Seems underappreciated that computers blew past humans at chess years ago but chess went on being fun.
Lessons in this for AI art. People still don't understand what makes something fun and what's going on in our minds when we do competitive things, master skills, etc.

So avg chess game is about 40 moves. What happens if, say, all possible checkmattes in 60 or less moves get mapped out?
Won't matter in the slightest, because the actual game your mind is playing is "accrue social status and signal my quality as a mate and ally"
The other players in that game are all human.
Also there are still professional chess players.
People enjoy seeing humans compete in endeavors.
only now that we are disabused of the promise, however unlikely, of true Supremacy, can we form a healthy relationship with the pursuit and have a good ol’ time
True, but art as an endeavor is separable from art as a product to be enjoyed by others.

I've seen 4 eras of SF tech people:
Era 1 (2000s): hoodie-wearing utopians who wanted to unite all humanity through social media and raves
Era 2 (2010s): hard-charging refugees from the finance bust who were always trying to sell you on their mobile app startup
There are no more borders in the European Union.
However, you will always know where the Netherlands begins.
A lot of people ask “why don’t more people go into the trades instead of college” and I feel like a big part of the answer is you spend 13 years doing almost entirely academic education, it’s not shocking the natural next step seems like 4 more years of academic education.
