They sincerely should offer the option of subscribing to a special edition of the New York Times that appends (“… and this is bad”) to every headline that’s about the actions of GOP elected officials or conservative activists. A lot of people seem to want this.

I wish I subscribed to a New York Times which led with the fact that Republicans in Congress have no grounds on which to impeach Biden (but they want to anyway...) instead of a New York Times focused on divisions among them and assorted maneuvers therein. nytimes.com/2023/07/04/us/

Do NY Times' readers need that? Is it not enough for their articles to be written for who they know their readers to be, or must each article include all the backstory a reader would need if having just awakened from a 30-year coma?

Nah. I'd be happy with a Times that showed a greater consistency in discerning the true from the false, and perhaps some understanding of the phrase "undue weight".
