Another point to consider is that part of what makes Steam so beloved is its longevity. When you build a library, you can play most of that content for literally decades.

Great video, the only thing I disagree with is the install base arguments. Porting a game to Apple Silicon macOS ALSO means you've effectively ported it to iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS. All of which have substantial gaming grunt and large user bases who do spend money on games.
