The U.S. and Japan were "the closest of friends" when the Japanese prime minister visited Washington in April.
Today, the U.S. says Japan’s largest steel company is a national security threat.

what other country is left to piss off before his administration hands over the torch?
This wasn’t a government owned company, this was a privately held Japanese company, and has nothing to do with the government…so I’d fathom to say that nothing has changed except your imagination.
The Trump administration said that the Canadian aluminum industry (built by American companies to serve American defense and aerospace needs) was a national security threat to the USA.
I will never vote for Trump but over the last few months I’ve felt embarrassed that I supported this guy.
Those who can’t differentiate between “Japan” (the country and its government), and “Japanese firm” (a private, for profit entity which may act to increase its profits w/o
government direction or approval & thus create a
national security risk), lack basic education.
Luckily trump is the best at everything and everything will be fixed for the better real soon
Back in the 1980’s there were similar protectionist vibes when Japan’s economy was surging and many US companies and real estate was getting bought up. Japan was never a threat and has been a strong ally for over 75 years.
We wouldn’t want Britain or Canada owning US Steel either. It’s not about who’s an ally right now it’s about who controls the steel when shit goes down (war, pandemics, etc.). Quit acting like a Russian patsy
LOL Can't believe Americans are still dumb enough to fall for the "nAtiOnaL sEcuRitY" line when they literally allowing government officials to socialize with known sex traffickers. Must be all that McDonalds making Americans dumb and obese.
