Hold on, because this is now about to happen. The bungling ideologues who used to run SF were completely defeated in this last election. The forces of reform have taken the Mayor's office, the Board of Supervisors, and the Board of Education.

One thing people don't realize about San Francisco's problems is that the city would almost instantly become one of the best in America in every category if it were governed as well as even the median city.

Til now there were two opposing forces acting on San Francisco. It was both the center of the AI revolution, and had one of the most dysfunctional city governments in America. Now there's just the first.
how can you say this for local SF but then pitch garbage from the same bin in the general election by pushing kamala?? blink twice if they have you held hostage, otherwise this is some dissonance
I’ve been saying this for years, but it bears repeating. Anti-housing progs caused this change in the electorate by making housing so expensive that only tech can afford to move here. Now we’re the dominant voting bloc. And we’re voting pro tech, pro growth.
I respect your diverse perspective on politics. It’s super healthy for people to see that this isn’t a A or B kinda country.
Brilliant comment from reader. “The very best thing that the Democrats can do for themselves is not ideological. It is to make the deep Blue cities and states where they have a supermajority into American paradises. Los Angeles, New York, California, Baltimore, Chicago,

For students in the foster care system, inaccessibility to basic needs is tough, let alone considering steps for higher education. The California Community Colleges system has faced this challenge head-on. Tune in now to Season 2 of EDUCATE. ELEVATE.

With new leadership, SF has the opportunity to become the nation’s exemplary city. A model of what real progress and effective governance can achieve. Dems need to lead by example and that should start locally. All the ingredients are here to make SF the city of the future.
Paul just recently endorsed an extremely leftist San Francisco swamp creature for President and now he's going to turn around and claim to be the voice of reason against woke buffoonery in San Francisco.
I just want to not walk through human feces, or sketchy tent cities, or worry about a car window being busted out I feel like these are all problems humans know how to trivially and quickly solve … Shouldn’t take long with the right will and leadership
Isn't this also a huge win for ranked-choice voting? Data seems to suggest he was most people's second choice. Had SF had 'first past the post', it's like Breed would have won. Lurie seems moderate, not extreme. If only we had this at the national level, we could get rid of the

We are cheering. For those folks who have grown up here - the city is unrecognizable to how it was in the 70s and 80s
We usually underestimate how easy it is to improve things. Turkey was unable to lower inflation in 2022-23 because the government was against raising interest rates. A new minister of finance took office in 2023 and started raising rates. We started seeing results in six months.
I hope so, but after 25 years in SF, I’ll believe it when I see it. I mean, Jackie “Defund the Police!” Fielder is still going to be a supervisor, and all new mayors have vowed to clean up the city.

I don't think incompetent SF government is defeated, merely set back. There's a whole bureaucracy in place behind the city supervisors - and still many incompetent leaders on the board or newly elected to it.
Do you think that as soon as things get better the electorate will fall back in thrall to delusional fantasies?
Great. Now what’s the plan to remove all the pretentious “brogrammers” from the streets? Because half the reason SF sucks are the people living in it
Exactly. I bet it would greatly benefit from this too. Thought leaders exist outside of compromised communist San Francisco
OMG YOU ARE ONE OF THE BUNGLING IDEALOGUES.

Democracy depends on the peaceful transfer of power. But Trump was willing to sacrifice even this principle after he lost in 2020. Trump did a lot of bad things, but this was the most dangerous. If elections stop working, you stop being a democracy. x.com/michael8175876…
Why is it not governed properly...why have such high level of crime? Cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi are safe all the time and every neighborhood.....no exceptions
Yes! San Francisco is a tremendous city. Beautiful and proud with a history of being adventurous. It has been absolutely ruined. FAFO
Lurie is going to be a huge question mark. He's never run anything besides his own non-profit started with family money.
you are overrating the ability of short-term good governance to overcome the bureaucratic and legal apparatus set up by long-term bad governance to prevent any change
A movement is growing to change the way we elect our president. That’s why Hillsdale College is conducting a National Survey on Presidential Selection. Complete this survey to help us more clearly understand the views of mainstream Americans concerning this issue.
Rate proposed Community Notes
I hope this is true, but the amount of bonds that were just approved will raise taxation by an unknown amount. But assured it will raise. Zoning is still hot, construction permitting is too. Lurie ran a non-profit; non-profits were mismanaging millions. Hopeful but 🤷‍♂️ bags out
LA is also on its way with the removal of Gascon, but our board of supervisors and city council still have some of the same ideologues that plagued SF.
Yes, but they are still Dems. So better, yes, but nothing less than a purge of the Top ⅔rds will move the needle like it needs to.
i mean fingers crossed tho right? often elections end up replacing one set of bumbling ideologues with another
Yet, you yourself, called for the election of those that would have perpetuated their tenure. Is it them that are the problem, or the leveraged wealthy influencers such as yourself?
Nobody knows anything about Lurie As far as we know he's a nonprofit goofball. Also reversing lots of the progressive stuff requires voter approval through ballot initiative. Good luck

Elon Musk is awarding $1 million randomly to registered voters in swing states who have signed the petition in support of the U.S. Constitution’s First and Second Amendments every day from now until the election. Do you think cash incentives will influence voter participation?
Just name the elephant in the room, Paul! The problem is Democrats and their adherence to progressive nonsense. You still have Gavin that will override anything common sense that might threaten to fix SF
After Pelosi announced an investment in that LLC who plan on buying office real estate in SF, it was clear things were about to turn around for the city.
Does anyone have a good summary of which people were voted out and what they did to deserve that? Also, who was voted in and how are they different?
Pffft, that's quite unlikely, mostly because people like you write imbecile polemics in favor of voting for gay race communism so your friends don't disinvite you to the cool parties.
I'm surprised San Franciscans were willing to vote for the clearly better candidate instead of a woman of what they often consider a superior skin color. Prepare for the riots where they call everyone racists (the experience everyone else in the country has gone through).
Just round up the crackheads and ship them out of town. Stop all “services” to the crackheads and the city will be rejuvenated overnight. It’s time to stop the 1% crackheads holding the rest of the population hostage
