I unironically think the discourse is held back by the paucity of takesters residing in America's most abundant locales.

i made fun of ruben gallego’s idea that dems should talk less about economic security, more about “big ass truck” prosperity … but now im in Arizona, in an aisle exclusively devoted to ONE soft drink, and tbh maybe that’s a winning message here.

yeah. it’s funny that so many leftists look to New Deal-era economic populism —jobs, security, food on the table! — when that should be the absolute floor of what we promise voters in a more prosperous era.
the American dream is backing up your big ass car to a giant grocery warehouse and filling it with stuff and then driving it directly into your attached garage. People don't say it but that's the revealed preference of anyone who comes here.
dem politicians approaching potential voters - "ok, let's pretend that you're poor."
I once took pictures of all the be beverage aisles and a lock biggish higher end grocery store and it was long thread. Let me try again

When I mentioned that if you think NYC is spendy, there are lots of other places to live in the US, the responses were basically "I don't like the suburbs". There are many towns and medium sized cities that aren't NYC or suburbs! The bubble on here is so obvious sometimes.
"Abundant" locales is kind of a funny idea. Not the richest place but still rich and absolutely the most extra lol. Scottsdale Frisco, Tx Alpharetta, Ga. Broward/West Palm Beach counties but not Dade Oconee County, Ga. Jupiter, Fla. Orange County, Ca. (the mother colony lol)
I make a yearly trip from SF to an UMC suburb in the Midwest. When I go into the grocery stores there I feel a little bit like Boris Yeltsin.
