"The lower income areas - South LA, East LA, were getting ready to have their single family units replaced by apartments buildings and I thought that was the wrong thing to do ..." - Here are the single family homes in South LA. Zero lower income residents can buy.

Here’s @MayorOfLA talking about how she changed ED1 because developers were going to build too much housing. Not an exaggeration to say Mayors like this are going to cost the Democrats congress for a generation. Red states are building a ton of housing. We’re doing this. x.com/andrew_rudick/…

"Having their single family units replaced" is such a disingenuous way to frame homeowners having the *choice* to sell their homes to earn potentially life-changing money while allowing more than one family to live there at lower cost.
Tesla Full Self-Driving is not safer than a human driving manually. - FSD failed a DMV driver's test - HW3 has 20/60 vision (illegal) - HW4 has 20/40 vision (bare legal minimum) - FSD hallucinates like all AIs It's no surprise Tesla can only defend FSD with fake safety stats.

This is such a bad faith argument You want a home that lower income LA residents can 'afford' - that means a home for what, $50k? 150k? A $250k home will run around $2000/m payment (with HOA). Could lower income families afford that? Please
'Wrong thing to do' is so authoritarian here. She is a politician she isn't doing Jack shit it's a system of property rights so people not politicians choose what to do with land to develop or not within an allowable framework. Playing fucking games.
When places are zoned as single family homes, poor people who live in those homes are forced to get roommates and be packed very tightly to afford rent! Wouldn't it be way way better if they could all get their own private apartments instead? I prefer that option for sure.
Is she justifying her incompetence and inaction? Ugh. Sadly her constituents are too busy surviving to pay attention to politics. If they had, she wouldn't be the mayor.
Boomers in LA love to say "well, you might just have to move to an up and coming neighborhood that's more affordable," ignoring the fact that the housing shortage is so severe that NOTHING is affordable. Mayor Bass is a disgrace.

The California Democratic Party just voted to support our legislation to allow more housing near train & subway stations & rapid bus stops. SB 79 means more housing, stronger transit, less traffic congestion & lower carbon emissions. Thank you Democrats!
We should build a half-dozen of these, evenly spaced, along California's central coast.

if you think about it, it’s kind of crazy how so many people expect scarce public land to be used for free car storage rather than things actually beneficial for society like housing, parks, hospitals or libraries
