The system (meeting people's desires) works!
If or when this will become scalable, I don't know, but the solution basically works by throwing a solvent in water, mixing it up, and having the plastics float to the top with the solvent, where they're easily skimmed off.
You can go read the paper here:
Even if evidence of harm is weak right now, this is one of those cases where surely we don't want to be full of these pellets "we" have created for other purposes. Suspect it's unlikely there would be a benefit to being riddled with the stuff !
people are so desperate for an explanation that isn’t obesity. infertility? obesity. hormone disregulation? obesity. it’s all just obesity
Are any bottled water companies advertising theirs doesn't contain microplastics yet?
I would not say weak. 4.5x increase in death, heart attack and stroke when microplastics are found in arterial plaques is about the same risk increase as smoking 2 packs a day.
One thing to consider is that the biggest microplastics burden on the body doesnt even come from drinking water. It comes from breathing and contact with polyesters and other synthetics. And most microplastics just sit in tissue, including the lungs.

Also, 0.5%? For comparison, the average brain is between 1100 and 1300cm³, and plastic is usually less dense than water. This implies that the typical human brain contains >7cm³ of plastic.
You can also coprecipitate them by heating any aqueous carbonate salt, aka tap water.

A new study published in found that 7.2% of all deaths each year across 10 cities could be linked to short-term PM 2.5 exposure higher than the guideline of 15 micrograms/cubic metre.
Amazing, I am one of those that have been worried, are you saying I don't have to be?
In case anyone needs a reminder why Capitalism is the winning ideology.
The marketplace of supply and demand enriches our lives whether we are ignorant of it, or not!
real question is: where can i invest?
Which brand will give me 10$ / liter Water that is organic, healthy, microplastic free, no cholesterol, enviromental friendly?
Its just gonna be the next label on the food advertisment market i am 100% sure.
Indeed, this suggests there's no causal effect:
Removing things from water with the aim of getting pure water isn't that much of a challenge compared to removing things from blood while keeping the blood functional.

Even if the case for them being harmful are weak, they don’t see a reason why they’d be any good.
Yeah
you'll be ok, nothing to worry about bro
microplastics are good for you
The chinese claim you can just boil the water
Dr. Fauci & NIAID staff knew I'd have questions about an $8.9 million grant they doled out in a quid pro quo scenario. That's why they destroyed evidence & avoided FOIA requests.

This is why we don't have to worry about not polluting water with plastic. The more plastic in water, the more profit there is in extracting it and the faster the problem will be solved by entrepreneurs.
As a general rule you don't want random shit in your water, even if probabilistically it is benign random shit.
Is there evidence of any endocrine disrupters, mutagenic properties or toxin from microplastics?
Don't trust anything from m*****. It'll likely give you brain worms. Worst school on the planet.
I would be more concerned about estrogen being in the water supply from all of the women on "The Pill" pissing into it on a daily basis.
There's only no evidence because we can't get a control group because EVERYONE has microplastics in them! Maybe best to err on the side of caution
Some of these people like Cremieux are being paid by Companies and Institutions to use Statistics to lie and placate people to real time harm ,in order for the Profit Margins of these Companies to be maintained. Very deceptive ,but very easy considering Midwest's are easily Decei
Reducing the production of plastic is a much better solution.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
But plastic manufacturers (ie, oil companies) have a lot of sycophants in the political sphere and so nothing is done.

What about our bodies? Can we cleanly extract the microplastics that have pierced through blood brain barrier ?

S. Korea spent $200b trying to increase its birthrate. Hungary spends 5% of GDP.
Both are failing.
Yet the small country of Georgia spiked its birthrate massively without spending a dollar. How?
They understood that fertility isn't about money. It's about status.
