New NotebookLM updates, rolling out today:
Pass a note to the hosts – you can now click on ‘Customize’ in Audio Overviews to give additional instructions, such as focusing on a specific topic, source, or even adjusting the audience it’s optimized for.
You can now minimize Notebook Guide and use the chat or other features, and Audio Overviews will keep playing in the background.
Over 80,000+ organizations are already using NotebookLM. Today we’re announcing NotebookLM Business: an upcoming version that will be offered via Google Workspace with enhanced features for businesses, universities and organizations. You can apply for the NotebookLM Business pilot program to get early access.

Makes sense and we hear this request often. We're working on making sure that quality continues to scale with the number of sources, both for the model responses and the UX itself. When those stabilize, we'll have more to announce on this front.

"Pass a note to the hosts" is exactly what I've been wanting in NotebookLM, and is such a cute framing for that feature
The business option looks very cool as well, with loads of use cases within organisations!
multi language support? would be great to have some deep dives into the grammar of other languages :)
notebook is amazing
thanks for the update (the pass a note feature is great)
question—do you have names for the hosts? in my headcanon they are James and Tabitha
also-one day would be rad to have similar tools that we do in Udio or Suno, like an “extend” feature

I'm testing NotebookLM as a training tool for certain college accreditation & compliance processes. Customizing w/info about the intended audience and asking for a few key examples that would be non-obvious to new staff resulted in a more formal-sounding, focused discussion. +1!
Congrats for the new features! Do you have spanish audio for audio overviews coming soon in your pipeline? I am lucky to understand english but it will be great and easier to share with millions of spanish speakers.
What I would absolutely love:
An orchestrator over Notebook LM that allocates context to NotebookLM interface each morning in service of my annual, quarterly and weekly goals using links to all my business context.
This is awesome! In the roadmap, are you thinking of developing Live Podcast ability?
Expert live podcast about a topic based on what users add, but you can chime in and be a part of the hosts?
Ask them follow up questions.
Grounded in the user data and then adding Google

Great job. Can you guys work on getting rid of the "like", "ums", & "uhs" from the podcast feature?
If I'm feeding it scientific papers I really don't want it to sound like a Valley girl
Hi - I am doing a small NotebookLM project. I am building a Notebook focused on California’s ballot propositions.
1. Customize audio is GREAT!
2. Ideally I could arrange/show/hide notes when I distribute the notebook to the general public. A simple way to arrange

Cool stuff! Your “Share Audio Overview” public access option still makes the user login to listen. Imagine having to login to watch a YouTube video.
Are you enabling custom voice cloning or setting up personalized voices for business versions?
I bet that would be a great way to set podcasts apart. Otherwise, every synthetic podcast from NotebookLM will end up sounding the same.
Since it’s for business, I’m thinking about

Sounds awesome! I’ve recently turned my newsletter into a visual podcast thanks to NotebookLM.
The feedback so far has been very positive. Looking forward to trying out some of these new features too.
did anyone ASK for an endless podcast creator? I ask because there are MILLIONS of podcasts out right now that no one is listening to, so, creating more of them seems like a mismatch between supply and demand.
Storybooks turned podcasts in mom's or dad's voice and audiobooks turned into a story read by the characters of the book [and optimised for activity - low hr (walk/stroll) vs high hr (run/gym)]
The new NotebookLM Business via Google Workspace is a great opportunity to streamline workflows, especially with features like audio summaries and document insights.
Like if you handle large amounts of data or research, you can apply for the pilot program—early access could

You and the team have done an amazing job on this - audio overview was my first “holy shit” moment in a while
Customizations? Different voices (maybe I can upload my own) and different languages
Lovely! Is there a way to control the level of the audio podcast, like Google illuminate does coming?
oh that's cool — a notebook teachers have already seeded with class material could be amazing
Oh also. The ability to generate more than a single podcast would be HUGE. I download them and them and delete and regenerate. But would love to just generate them, and maybe add them into the notebook.
Nice update! I would still love the ability to branch and merge notebooks. Also, visual inputs would be a game changer

Congrats! I have legit been loving making podcasts. You could make a whole podcast studio that people would eat up. The ability to add in some
Custom notes is brilliant. I am gonna have some fun with that.
I managed the other day to get the podcast hosts to receive a script in

I hope you can add more quality voices and more control very soon.
I noticed that I could add some text notes and altered the conversation slightly for things like: ‘Don’t start the conversation by saying X, Y or Z,’ and ‘Make the conversation no longer than X minutes.’ It worked the couple of times that I had to do it; I’m not sure if it was a

tried out the first time today...such an awesome product already...was thinking if we had the exact feature so that I can understand my notes from various angles...this is definitely going to improve my workflow...

Two ideas:
1. How about a 'call in' feature - either pre-sent in questions - or if possible real time audio input from the user.
2. Pre-defined tools for the hosts - maybe simplest is google search - more advanced using

This is great. Are you looking into providing an API for the Audio Overview? I’d love to cook that into my product I’m building.
Can you shorten or lengthen the length of the audio through the "pass notes" feature?
Initial insights on customizing audio overviews. I upload a three part report on rethinking the health system operating model and asked to present overview for front-line clinical and administrative staff in a healthcare system. Interesting that the overview content is simplified

The "Customize" feature in Audio Overviews may enable new transparency with sharing NotebookLM > clearly identify your sources *and* include the "Customize" instructions
Fantastic! I love audio overview customization option! Keep up the great work and keep dropping these updates.
So happy for the team that's been working hard on this. Glad to see it crossing over from "experimental"
Looking great! Loving it! Please add more languages, like Spanish!

NotebookLM is a game changer I literally use it everyday. Thank you
Allow embedding the chat interface on any website. For instance, we’ve uploaded all our content from on NotebookLM and would love for our readers to query it to get info about various social developmental and impact organisations.
Can we say to the hosts : "speak exclusivly in french during your episode"
We're using Notebooklm all around the world

Can we save the chat, it's so annoying the need to pin each prompt.
Maybe an option to remember everything from a particular conversation
I go back to certain chats and all i find there is the source, and then have to redo everything
Is it possible to organize multiple notebooks into a folder or something similar?
Would love a NotebookLM Channel streaming audio overviews all day long. This would be killer as a never-ending YouTube video featuring supporting images from Imagen 3.
A great feature would be to be able to create and edit the transcript that feeds the audio overview. The customization is great but this would provide the ultimate user control.
NotebookLM is so amazing I built an open source alternative to its podcast feature that is an API therefore automatable also fully customizable, multilingual and multimodal.
It's called podcastfy.ai
Thanks for inspiring this open source project!
Honestly, the podcast feature is super cool and would be great as a stand alone product. I love the podcast feature but it's a bit frustrating when sometimes the 'hosts' go off on tangents or skip important details. The customize feature sounds cool, gonna try it out now.
Great updates! Is it still powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro now that it is out of the “Experimental” phase?
Pass a note is great feature! I was just trying to figure out if say I needed to make a separate notebook for each chapter in a book
Need the ability for you to "slip notes" to one of the podcast host :) - i.e. adding another question into the mix (sure requires re-generating the remaining audios but it would be so much fun!)
Awesome especially with the customize feature for certain sources!
Can you allow user to select the length and therefore the depth of the podcast (15min for high level overview vs 30min for more in depth etc).
It would be awesome to have the ability to create a series of episodes as real podcasters do, going deep on a narrow selection of topics from the same material, each time you press the button a new part comes out, building upon what was discussed on the previous episodes.
Great updates!
When are we able to clone our voices? And, any updates to change the parameters like temperature and model?
