It wouldn’t completely solve the problem, but we could do a lot of good on this front be banning TikTok
Causation might be the other way. When you only have one kid, it might encourage crazy neurotic types to over-invest in minutia. When you have three, you stop giving a shit about nonsense halfway through your second.
I banned my best friend from doing this at my house because her seven month old kept fucking choking and it gave me a heart attack every time.
We did it and it was great. It didn't require any special training, you just like...give them food. It's not a big deal. If it ruined someone's life, their life must have been extremely fragile to begin with.
The thing is parents mostly think about crazy, overwrought stuff like this only after the baby arrives and they need to channel their newfound love and intense anxiety into something concrete.
This stuff tends to be big in internet spaces vs real life. I think a lot of it is moms are desperately trying to figure out their identity after such a big life change and latch onto minutiae like this, subconsciously, as a way to find a “tribe”
Seriously. And the implication that, if you don’t do it exactly “this specific way that I’m promoting,” you’re a bad parent.
If you have to turn to Tik Tok or sign up for a $999 course on how to feed baby, maybe you shouldn't have one?
This is dumb. Yes people can get hysterical about anything. But done sensibly this is LOWERING the bar to baby-having by not locking you into a year of buying special baby food.
I’m all for tossing out the dumb fads, but baby-led weaning doesn’t seem like one of them. It worked well for my kid and saved us time and money. If it’s doesn’t work for you, then don’t do it

Oh, just run trillion dollar annual surpluses! Why didn't I think of that?

Get to 1T in budget surplus, eliminate income tax, then drive down interest rate on national debt to 0. Not paying interest on national debt will give a balanced budget. Then you'll see the greatest economic boom in history and pay down the national debt pretty fast. And

People on here will really be like "you believe in Abundance? that pales in effectiveness to my strategy, a Green New Deal" and then not think at all about the many legal and procedural constraints criticized in Abundance that would make a Green New Deal impossible to implement
This is nauseating. If this declaration is true, the Trump admin sent an asylee to a prison in El Salvador because officials thought he had a Tren de Aragua tattoo, when in reality it was a tattoo modeled off of Real Madrid. This is why due process matters. Beyond horrifying.

NEW! Sworn declarations filed last night confirm the Trump admin sent INNOCENT people to rot in prison El Salvador, including a professional soccer player tortured by the Maduro regime who entered this country LEGALLY to seek asylum and has NO CRIMINAL RECORD in either country. x.com/ReichlinMelnic…
