I don't want to discourage progressives from liking James Talarico, but it's just not true that he's winning as an orthodox liberal — beyond trans sports he has moved to the center very specifically on the energy issues that were such a big deal to Joe Manchin.

Talarico is to the left of Crockett, and just because he has tact doesn't necessarily mean he's a moderate. Some progressives actually moderate and others zip up their human skin suit to pass as moderates.
I would encourage all to encourage Talarico to never become a Joe Manchin.

The good news is the centrists think he is a centrist and the liberals thinks he is a liberal - exactly what Obama was able to achieve in 2008, Kamala accomplished the opposite.
The big and obvious difference is that Manchin was a true believing conservative Democrat, whereas Talarico is obviously pandering to get elected (which is a good thing).

We like him because we want a Dem senator in TX. Simple as that. He was easily the better candidate in the primary and is a good candidate for the general. Who's out here thinking he's progressive?
