This is wild but the second post is even crazier: is it actually true that *zero* market rate large development projects broke ground in all of San Jose in 2024?! The center of SV in a giant boom! The state/fed government needs to take away CEQA and local zoning control tomorrow.

California cities are beyond broken. A developer proposed a high-rise on a vacant lot in San Jose. Though it isn't located in a residential neighbourhood, locals are furious. But most egregiously, the city only plans to hold meetings on this project in 2026 - 2 years from now!!!

Closest airport and major city in MSA containing Google, Apple, Stanford, Sand Hill, Facebook, Intel, etc etc. It only isn't the center because it chooses not to be by zoning rules...
Man remember when everyone was so psyched that housing element requirements were being missed and the Builder's Remedy was going to be in effect but instead we got endless extensions and nothing functionally changed?

Nonsense. If you can afford a $400+ phone, you can afford to spend $20 on a pair of usb-C headphones. People who use their speaker in public are not being systemically oppressed by big corporations, they’re just rude and inconsiderate.

The WSJ missed the forest for the trees. The issue with speakerphones is systemic. Apple stopped offering direct headphone hookups on their phone. A lot of people for a variety of reasons don't want to use Bluetooths. Apple should be called to account but, hey, it wouldn't be the x.com/AlecMacGillis/…

RIP Jimmy Carter. He came so close to achieving this goal — only 7 cases worldwide of guinea worm this year.

Sigh...comparing inflation-adjusted wages to non-inflation-adjusted prices is the lie that always goes viral.
