BREAKING: LA Fire Department reports that one of the two essential “Super Scooper” aircraft leased by LA County from Canada was struck by a civilian drone at the #PalisadesFire today & is now GROUNDED and out of service with wing damage. FAA investigating. It is a federal crime to fly a drone during firefighting efforts. The Super Scoopers are the incredible yellow & red fixed wing planes you see scooping up water from the Pacific Ocean & making drops on fires. They are an invaluable asset for firefighters & have a quick turnaround time. Their call signs are Quebec 1 & Quebec 2. Quebec 1 is now out of service in the midst of a catastrophic fire event in SoCal.

The drone owner should be held personally liable for the aircraft and property loss (since the plane can no longer operate). Why doesn’t the US Parks service own these types of planes?
Bill, can you find out why one of the most the most fire ridden states doesn’t have their own super scoopers?
Was it one of the drones from NJ that are the size of a car? That’s the only way I see a wing getting damaged on this plane.

A thought-provoking trilogy on The Kennedy Files. This 3-part series exposes declassified information on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, unraveling the complex web of evidence surrounding that fateful day in 1963.

Don't you think it time that LA buys its own Super Scooper aircraft? One would think... but the Mayor wants firefighting budgets slashed... hmmm.
my first Q: why on earth are there only 2 of these and why are we only hearing about them after 48 hours? these should have been operating right away!
Operating a drone during firefighting efforts is a federal crime, punishable by up to 12 months in prison or a fine of up to $75,000.
Amazing that they never built infrastructure to pump water from the ocean in an emergency situation. All that money they waste, and no one could even think they might need to do that.
Adding on… The Yellow Jack ("Quebec") signal flag, is a plain yellow banner that was historically used to signify a vessel was, or might be, harboring a dangerous disease and needed to be quarantined (the flag represents the letter "Q").

But hasn't the nation already told us there's nothing they can do about drones? Or is that only east coast drones they have zero power or authority over?
That is devastating. Whomever operated that drone just cost people their homes and possibly lives. They need to go to jail.
I'm putting on my bingo card, "CIA tries to bring down water bombers with drones to hamper firefighting efforts." (My tinfoil hat has countless layers at this point)
This is either the most laughably incompetent effort in the history of this nation or this is deliberate. A possibly a mix of both, tbh.
The coincidences of enabling this fire and preventive actions for effectively subduing these fires, continue to pile up. This drone decommissioning this Super Scooper plane is totally suspect. Palisades water reservoir was offline for planned maintenance during their fire.
Wait, does California not have its own “Super Scooper” planes, or were the ones leased from Canada just augmenting California scoopers?
First, why is it so hard for people to behave and act normal in 2025. Like who is so stupid that they thought it was a good idea to fly a drone in that area? Second and probably more important: WHY THE FLYING FUCK DOESN’T THE UNITED STATES HAVE ANY OF THESE FLYING WATER

At the rate California is burning, they should buy their fleet so LA residents can break their own stuff next time.
there people flying drones to get pics for there neighbors burn houses that evacuated. The guy that runs the VFW or some militant hall admitted it in a tv interview yesterday, couldn't believe it.
Was it the same type of drone, I wonder, that was found with the Russian Wagner Group mercenary who was detained illegally crossing our southern border?
Grounded for that little boo boo? Just put some duct tape on it like all of the rest of aviation everywhere. The incompetence of officials is astounding

We learned yesterday that the FBI hit a fireplane with a Drone. Today, at their presser, LA Police are acting like they don't know that the pilot of the Drone was the FBI.
With California's 300 billion dollar budget why don't they have 30 of these things owned by the state? They've burned 120 billion dollars on a high speed rail to nowhere instead.
I’m starting to think we are at war, and don’t know it yet. Who started these fires? Who has pushed DEI so hard? Who pushes the influencers on social media so hard? Find the drone operator. Is it a Chinese student? Who is dragging the cables on the sea floor? Social disruption

To be fair, LA lets people break the law as much as they want, so it's hard to know when they are supposed to follow the law and when it's socially acceptable to break it. Play silly games, win silly prizes 😳
Disregard all the BS about drones in NJ (I live there) as most of it is BS. I've never seen anything in the sky that couldn't be explained. However, with over 1-million drones out there and numbers increasing, the FAA better get serious about this potential for disaster and

Only California can screw up this magnanimously. Unreal. Meanwhile in NY, a major structure fire has 200 firemen on scene. LA????? Just 23,000. Heads better roll.
Why are you dropping salt water on fires, who’s the idiot in charge of that operation? Go get lake water!

Have you ever heard the phrase “salting the earth”? Like in ancient times they would conquer a city, burning it to the ground, and then scatter salt on the earth. Do you know why? Nothing will ever grow there again.

The $11 billion that California has poured down the non-existent high speed rail project since 2008 would buy 430 Canadair CL-415 “Super Scooper” aircraft at about $ 25.7 million apiece - the state could have spent a mere 5.6 % of this one particular boondoggle budget & bought a

The news told people not to be flying them right now. its bad it damaged a “Scooper“aircraft that is so important.
If this is true I bet it is bc someone was looking for that shot or video to make them social media worthy. When they are caught they need to pay to fix the plane
My kid’s drone won’t even fly into TFR’s… which I think is pretty cool tech and keeps him from getting a giant fine.
If the drone belongs to the far left mainstream media we shall hear no more of this.
Saddest and perhaps most horrific thing is legacy media not reporting and/or outraged by the causes for this unbelievably tragic event.
Any destruction to property or life that occurred after that drone hit the Scooper needs to fall on the drone operator and criminal charges should be filed. And he or she owes the owner of the Scooper a new one!
The stupidity of some people, why would you fly a drone anywhere near one of these planes? Gotta get the video views....Great work, fucking moron.
It’s also illegal to take home marine life from tidepools but I see illegals do that all the time also. Immigrating people without educating them about our culture, customs, laws, history and expectations of being a good citizen will get you a person who disrespects it all.
