This is a very big deal. These barges, once built and *IF* (and it’s a BIG IF, the Chinese can get them across the Taiwan Strait, could present a huge issue for the defense of the island

moot point. if the Chinese can bring literally anything on the beach, its game over anyway Taiwans only hope (besides US invervention) is sinking everything the PLA throws at them, long before it even gets close to the Island

I feel these multitude of announcements, from barges to J36 sixth gen fighter jet, as the reflection of 2 decades of tech and defense investment by China when US was bogged down hunting militants in caves.

I mean, if Trump is going after Greenland, Panama Canal and Canada, then well, China wants Taiwan. And I think Trump with Elon are ok with this.

The barges are not a big deal, they have always thought about them. Its the fact that they think they can defeat US submersible capability. Probably comes from intel on sub locations and better ASW tech from Russian.

This is why China has forbid russia from using nukes and threatened to cut off all trade and possibly even threatened to arm Ukraine. Staging equipment to load and ships at sea is impossible once the seal on tactical nukes has been broken.

Are you still of the opinion that the US would defend Taiwan in 2027/28? Trump's most recent comments on Greenland /Canada indicate that he would not even defend Nato allies. I fear that a Taiwan Invasion is now mich more likely with Trump, as the USA won't do anything about it.
