The archbishop of Paris will re-open the cathedral on December 7th and hold the first mass since the 2019 fire on Sunday December 8th
In January this year I was lucky enough to visit the Notre Dame building site, including a climb (in sub-zero temperatures) up the scaffolding enclosing the 96m-high spire. The quality of materials and craftsmanship are quite something

The remarkable story of the rebuilding of Notre Dame, unveiled today for the first time since the fire, and why it touches so many people, the spiritual and the secular

Wow. I guess we don’t have money to clean, restore all medieval cathedrals but how awesome they must have seemed at time when new before centuries of dirty city air turned them into soot depositories
And this was all done with almost no
state funding at all, thanks to generous private donations
Notre Dame is magnificent.
I visited maybe 15 years ago and the bells and the roof top, the gargoyles, the cloisters it was all incredible.
I’m also very impressed that the French simply refused to see it lost.
Appropriate music for the reopening of Notre Dame: “Viderunt omnes” (“All the ends of the earth”) by Perotin, a composer of the Notre Dame school. The chorale arrangements, which date back to the late 12th century, are among the oldest surviving polyphonic compositions in music

A fantastic achievement.
France certainly seems to be able to get things done .
This is good for Christianity, now if the Catholic church itself could be straightened out.
Breathtaking in the wrong way. She's a beautiful old girl and should look her age. Charcoal gray suited her. Sorry, but to my eye, this is desecration.
Wasn't this private money that was used, or am I mistaken and it was the French government that took this on?
We restore Christian monuments made by wood and stone while destroying the cultural foundations that built them in the first place.
Here the committee set up to do this would still be sorting out who sat where around the table and what biscuits they should have while they discuss the project once the newt survey has been completed
This is not impressive at all. Building the walls and a roof used to be just the first step to create a cathedral… paintings, tapestries, embroideries, frescoes, sculptures, mosaics, woodwork, carving, dentelles, gold, enamels, silver and coppersmith, as well as nice marble and

Did he and his fellow bankers cough-up or the people of France pay?
From what I have read 17% of the 700 million euros donated for the restoration of Notre Dame came from the Jewish community. The largest contributions were made by Americans. None of these people asked for recognition. Perhaps Macron should speak out about this rather than take

For what? A dying ancient religion part of the pagan deception? Go and worship the last pagan Roman Emperor in Rome? Pope! Yeshua already told him to stop the deception. Yeshua told me I will shut down all churches in a dream when I was ten years old. I am supposed to be a

It looks sterile, vapid and hollow - just like Macron and his WEF cronies want the world to look.
Macron? Is that the one married to a pedophile man? Who groomed him at the age of 12? That one?
They have done an impeccable job on that big old church. It is a slightly smaller copy of the magnificent cathedral in Reims, where resides my favourite Jean d'Arc, who's about my shoulder height, bless her:
It’s beautiful, and I’m looking forward to seeing it soon, but I can’t help being a little sad that the old look is gone. Still, it’s not often that we get to see a building like this the way it would have been when new.
It’s an absolute national symbol. If people believe in something enough they’ll get it done. History has shown us that?
This is so impressive! I was honestly shocked to see the Notre Dame burn down live on tv in 2019. Happy it’s restored. Well done to France
It took 5 years because they sat on so many rules. It took 5 years because Macron said it would, without talking with any soecialists… this is not such a good piece of news
Beautiful! I’d be interested in knowing if there will be a documentary on the rebuilding project?
I hope they will do a webcast of the rededication service. I am on duty in another Cathedral on the 8th but will watch back later if able to do so.
Well, he actually said it'd be completed for the Olympics and they won't actually be done for quite a while yet - they've just reached the point that they can reopen...
Wonderful! (if that was running the project it would be 5 years late and hundreds of millions over budget!!!!)
Having seen Notre Dame in 1965 or so, it is more than remarkable. Looks more like a new monastery than a medieval survivor.
Hay restauraciones y restauraciones. Algunas mantienen ese no sé q, q no borra el paso de los años, décadas o siglos, es decir “lo vivido”. Otras parecen cirugía estética. Por la foto está parece cirugía estética, deseo estar equivocada.
Thank you for good news. I thought that I would never see Notre Dame again in my life. Maybe my children or even grand children. But here she is. It's time to by an airline ticket to Paris :)
It’s still sad they had not installed a fire suppression system.
We lost Saint Raphael's Cathedral (Madison, WI) in March 2005 to a fire months prior to fire suppression being installed.
Absolutely beautiful. We visited before the fire and thought it so impressive but now, as you say a breathtaking restoration. Would love to go back to see it, not for religious reasons as I’m personally an atheist, but as an amazing building of beauty.
What an amazing and beautiful achievement, and look how magnificent Notre Dame now looks.
I toured Notre Dame in 2012, a majestic church & so inspiring. Hope to visit the restored church one day, but so very sad that so much history was destroyed.
Think of all the homeless and hungry people they could serve with the money……
It'll be a shock for those of us who've visited every once in a while and will return to such a bright and new atmosphere.
Fantastic!
Bravo!
And we can’t even build a high speed rail network that actually connects one part of the country to the other.
If I could afford to live in France I’d be there in a shot,
Yes, it is done even if many didn’t believe it at the time. Where there is a will, there is a path ;-)
We were recently there and heard its bells again.

No wonder the French credit rating is falling. Looks brand new, which must of it will be.
And looking far better than I remember it from visits when I lived in France last century.
A silver lining, indeed.
My grandmother was born in Paris, not that far from Notre Dame. Watching on my TV in April 2019 I wept. I am so happy to see this.
He promised, craftsmen, architects and engineers delivered. They should be proud
Un immense remerciement à tous ceux qui ont oeuvré à sa restauration. Ce sont des milliers de personnes qui se sont affairées à cette immense tâche, et tout cela en respectant un calendrier serré. C'est fabuleux et très émouvant. Bravo!
Stunning! My pawrents were there in 2022 & were sad not to be able to view it.
Beautiful. Unfortunately, however, an ancient monument has been lost
