The lying is the point. It’s not like Elon sincerely falls for this garbage, but then is too vain to revisit. He admires about Trump that he is a huge liar who steamrolls everyone with bullshit, and he wants to emulate that.
Not updating on things you were wrong about is incredibly common and not at all limited to Elon.

SBF’s girl had 11 billion and she got basically probation.
He’ll be out in 10 with a billion in offshore accounts in various crypto’s. He still won.
Weren't you in support of SBF and his ideas about effective altruism? Didn't he go to jail for defrauding his investors, and you looked really bad for supporting him, FTX, and crypto in general? Why bring up topics that make you look bad.
They went very light on SBF and weren’t even going to go after him until there was enormous public pressure.

I haven't followed this case. Was this debunked? At the time SBF had clearly donated millions to democrats & was claiming he donated to both parties, but used dark money sources to fund Rs. Was that true? Was someone arrested for that? Or was he just saying that bc it looked bad

The thing with Elon Musk is that he has an exception in the Community Notes that makes it so you need a HUGE amount of votes to even show up.

None of the cultural grievances that Trump fans cite were actually improved by four years of him being president (in many cases just the opposite) — what actually happened is billionaires got a tax cut, an anti-Roe majority was installed, and he tried to take healthcare away.
Compare this thread from a local reporter detailing what a pure stunt this was - pre-selected supporters, rehearsed drive-through practice - to the credulous national press pool about him “working” at McDonald’s
