Comparing states to nations is always silly given the different responsibilities and investment that Alabama receives from the federal government. Moreover, this looks likes it’s just straight converting CAD to USD and doesn’t adjust for cost of living/currency (eg purchasing

Household debt servicing ratio is a strange metric to use if you're claiming we were in way better shape in 2008!

Jay doesn't fully get Canada either. Natural resources are one of our advantages, but we are also not a sparsely population country all living in the backwoods. As he points out, his from Saskatchewan and clearly views the country from that vantage point.
The UK is in a pretty dire place economically and fiscally too. It would be a great episode to compare what free market policies let the US and Australia prosper, whereas what dysfunction (fiscal meltdown, overregulation, trade problems, etc) took down Canada and the UK.

1) This isn't a new problem 2) The disparity between Canadian investment/per capita GDP and America's is largely (though certainly not entirely) explained by currency effects.

The debt servicing is housing. How much do Americans spend on healthcare? You’re talking about 10 provinces and 3 territories like they are a single entity, Canada is among the richest countries on earth - with high quality of life, education. This is not a good comparison.
This is some weak analysis. Most household debt is mortgage payments; while our housing is too expensive, there are certainly worse forms of debt. In terms of our national balance sheet, Canada and Germany lead the G7 for credit worthiness and debt/GDP
So they should trade debt service for massive gun violence, sky-high college tuition, a profit-driven health care system which makes money by denying care, and a crack-headed loon of a president bent on destroying democracy? Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.
Our houses are 3x more expensive than yours, we earn 60% less per hour than you do, our dollar is shit, we have homelessness, drug, abortion, poverty, food, and euthanasia crisis's...and so much more. You do not want us being a part of America lol

Mind-blowing how effective congestion pricing is. Lower Manhattan streets remain completely empty. It's an important lesson to remember: how price-conscious the typical consumer is - a daily $9 fee changed the entire landscape of NYC. Lower Manhattan is going to really boom now

Please raise your hand if you’ve ever heard of a company doing this, or even better if you’ve been at a company that did this what other insane stuff did they do?

In hindsight, peak woke was when startups were renaming their monthly all hands meetings to all hearts because not everyone has hands. Good riddance.
Honestly one of the most skillful uses of TikTok has been to convince a generation that other governments have solely benign intentions while the U.S. government is Literally Hitler and every single action it takes is to personally ruin the lives of zoomers
