In Britain, hundreds of service vehicles and trucks transporting soldiers and equipment have been fitted with stickers warning against discussing classified information and connecting official devices to onboard computers.
The decision was made after a Chinese tracker was discovered in a government vehicle in 2023, raising security concerns. The Ministry of Defence banned the use of Chinese electric vehicles in sensitive locations and emphasized strict controls on conversations and device connections across the entire fleet.
As a reminder, similar measures were previously taken in Israel.
Israel had already implemented similar measures before the UK case. As early as August 2024, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) banned Chinese vehicles from military bases because their sensors, cameras, and eCall systems could transmit sensitive data (e.g., location, conversations, or images) to servers in China. In November 2025, the IDF expanded this by recalling approximately 700 Chinese electric vehicles (mainly Chery Tiggo 8 Pro) from officers' fleets to minimize espionage risks. This follows a broader trend of Israel restricting the use of Chinese smart devices in sensitive areas.
