37% of Democrats look at a candidate who lost twice and think, third time's a charm.

I agree it’s to a large extent name recognition. However it’s not like the other names in that list are obscure. And it seems like a chunk of Dem voters really thought Harris was a good candidate.

Polls this far out are just name rec. People just say they support the name they know so they can get off the phone and go about their day. Case in point: nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna3
Voters are not likely to admit their prior choices were wrong so in addition to name ID, this question is basically asking them to admit their last choice was a mistake.
It actually makes sense when you see that they have internalized the commandment that they must select a black woman as their messiah.
PLEASE DO IT. VANCE / HARRIS DEBATE WOULD BE EPIC! IM SURE WE WOULD ONLY GET ONE, BUT IT'LL BE A LIFETIME OF CLIPS!
That happened to what is widely considered the 2nd most esteemed Republican President in history a grand total of 3X Mssr. Jilani. A politician alot ppl with alot of opinions like you didn't think was particularly smart. A former B-movie, Hollywood actor. This good guy who my

Isn’t this more of a commentary of the fact that nobody is really the head of the Democratic Party at the moment so people just default to “last guy” or “person I’ve heard of”
Perfect opportunity for Jared Polis. #DemPrimary

Eh Polls this early have never been relevant it’s all name recognition. Besides Kamala get smashed on a debate stage like Tulsi did her in the last time she was in a Dem Primary
That is NOT what voters are doing. Harris is "safe and comfortable" since people know her. Harris would be great if she put herself in the spotlight, defending USA, letting people know her outside of high pressure campaigning, but she is not doing that (and losing my support)
It was highly unusual how few Democrat governors were in the 2020 primaries. I remember several years ago Brian Schweitzer governor of Montana was overheard saying "gaydar" and that torpedoed his chances. Imagine how different it would be if he had become prominent.
A damp towel has more charisma. Cats are better communicators. I think a strong opposition party is a good thing. But I would pay to see a JD Vance Kamala debate.
As much as I hate to say this, I think would be a better choice for the Dems than any of the three mentioned above.
You know these early polls are always pure name recognition right? They just don’t know anyone else yet. Plus Trump lost and then he won so it’s not unheard of.
I do have to wonder how Republicans will fare post-Trump. The thing about cults of personality is they're not really transferable.
The difference between republicans and democrats is the latter would rather lose than make changes to become less woke and establishment. Republicans saw their establishment lose big in 2008 and 2012 and decided no more.
I don’t think any polling this early should be given much thought. In 2006, Clinton was being talked as the primary favorite and Obama ended up winning the nomination.
Maybe they can't find an Indian/black woman who isn't a retard? What other explanation could there be?
Because those serious about winning have left the party and the rest are the DINO and the Cheney Republican Dems who feel comfortable losing as long as they retain control of the party and keep those health insurance donor checks rolling in and their genocide funded.
People crave a leader right now. The last candidate for the general election makes sense as a default option. That's all this is.
Wait until you find out how Bernie Bros fell. They see a guy that lost multiple primaries to run and think this time will be different…
Eh, Obama came out of nowhere. There will be a normal process, debates, and a more interesting candidate will emerge.
In short order Harris and Newsom both are going to be examples of "the old Democrat party". Who will be the future of the Democrat party? Not sure but it won't be either of those two.
You target Kamala purely because she is Indian. Dems lost because Biden took a lot of time to step down. Momentum was already massively down by the time Kamala took the chance
She’s just got the most name recognition and those other options aren’t great. But she also didn’t get a fair shot this cycle — a 100 day campaign when you’re sitting VP to an unpopular president is not realistic
No poll on future democratic candidates bares any weight because there is an absolute vacume of power. Any person with charisma that rises can sweep through the party voters and take the mantle in democratic party. Voters have not seen that yet, so these polls are useless.
Well, Biden is the exception that they would retort with. He was a career Presidential loser who had dropped out in the past and finally got through with a giant helping hand. But yeah, Kamala is never gonna make it through a true primary.
Democrats were astroturfed so immensely with pro Kamala ads in such a short time that they bought it. Oh well
harris won’t survive a primary challenge. they will have to skip the primary again if they want her as their candidate.
Jesus fucking christ guys can we please stop running losers? Biden was like a 6 time loser before he beat Trump. Kamala is now a 2x loser, lost in 2020 primary, lost in 2024 general. Stop nominating people who have already been rejected.
