they all remained friends and retook the same photo many years later (my grandpa is 4th from the right)
A black-and-white photo of eight men in suits and ties, seated and standing in two rows. They are positioned in front of a wooden wall with a circular logo featuring a stylized "F". Michael Grinich\'s grandfather is fourth from the right.

This so cool!! I have photos of my Grandfather with Mr. Hewlett and Mr. Packard, too! They went fly fishing in Oregon every year.

this is the SV equivalent of being a Hollywood nepo baby like “My grandpa is Alfred Hitchcock” (i am obviously joking, this is so freaking cool dude!)
Awesome, wonder who got the replica Fairchild logo sign made up. Definitely wasn’t from Sherman, who probably resented them all for them abandoning ship (otherwise he would have ended up the richest man in the world probably).
This is delightful to hear. Still grateful to consider my two co-founders at brothers. In a world of founder-drama, it seems uncanny that the three of us having met when we were in our early 20s would grow and remain friends.
My grandpa worked for fairchild semiconductor after robert noyce brought him out west and founded four phase systems with lee boysel
Very cool. What if you and all of the other grandchildren took a photo together and very generally described the areas of math, science, and computer science you studied (if any)?

Our favorite equation is: Obscure feature+obscure feature+obscure feature = Bug For your weekend reading, Michael Gibson writes about how we found a bug in the C++ compiler -- without using Antithesis. Link below, for the algorithm will not be denied.

Today vibe coding goes pro. Introducing Bolt v2: → World's best agents (Claude Code, Codex) → Built in backend (hosting, DB, storage, ...) → No error loops, no setup nightmares Now anyone can build without boundaries.

Why was your grandfather allowed to work without diversity but now it is forced on any White man who wants to associate with other White men?
My aunt must have known them all working there in the 60s. She said, “some of my work friends asked me to join them at a new company they were starting, I was already planning my restaurant so I declined.” The company her “work friends” started was called ‘Intel Corporation’.
