What a hot mess. Official US social media accounts are now contradicting the published predidential order, saying it doesn't apply to existing H1B holders (the execive order says it does) and existing H1Bs would no be turned back on the border (the order says they would)

Those on an H1B cannot return to the US from tomorrow (Sunday) unless paying $100K. This is an out-of-the blue presidential action. Weโ€™ll see software engineers stranded abroad. One easy to predict outcome: those on US visas will travel lessโ€ฆ for work, for conferences etc.

Here's one such account that urges everyone to ignore the Presidential Order in lieu of these details on social media So, what should one trust? A signed presidential order, or a social media post like this? What chaotic regulation and comms

Corporate lawyers and others with agendas are creating a lot of FAKE NEWS around President Trump's H-1B Proclamation, but these are FACTS: 1. The Proclamation does not apply to anyone who has a current visa. 2. The Proclamation only applies to future applicants in the February x.com/RapidResponse4โ€ฆ

In a few hours we find out if border control follows directives laid out in presidential orders or ones shared over social media Hard to believe so much uncertainty on re-entry on a valid work visa. Microsoft, Google, Amazon all told H1B staff to not re-enter after today

To be clear: 1.) This is NOT an annual fee. Itโ€™s a one-time fee that applies only to the petition. 2.) Those who already hold H-1B visas and are currently outside of the country right now will NOT be charged $100,000 to re-enter. H-1B visa holders can leave and re-enter the

The text was actually clear, and the confusion mostly stems from those who don't understand the lingo. Unless you had an active petition (new or renewal) AND you are physically outside the country while the petition is being considered, then you have to pay the fee.

This administration is made of morons who use ChatGPT to govern. Not kidding. Theyโ€™ve expelled all intellectuals from creating sound policy and instead look to enact racist and cruel policies that uphold fascist agendas
Completely insane how there are two official narratives, same goes for whether the fee is annual or one time...complete mess
I think the order takes effect at midnight as stated but this is designed to prevent people from rushing back. Political pawns.
It's usually hard to get a government that is so disfunctional that it's literally impossible to reason about it's policy choices, even in the abstract. The US is a big innovator in this niche, the blue handed visibly dying leader is a real trailblazer ngl
Is there a legitimate article about this H1B visa stuff anywhere, or must I continue to sift through half baked Tweets and comments?
Policy is not set by a weekend announcement. Thats why it was released on Friday. And if needed to be clarified on Monday. Weekends are for speculation and drama.
Clumsy. This administration is looking clumsier as the days pass by. Shame that it started off with promise but has devolved into something predictable and silly.
