It can but only it'll reach its limits. And sensible scientits who have not succumbed to Greenpeace style anti-nuclear hysteria know the value of clean,dispatcahble baseload availiable 24/7/365.

PV industry has to produce 1TWp/y to meet demand that is 2 bilion panels of 500Wp/y =around 50 million tns of alu and glas =25x1000x1000m3/y product =100X1000x1000m3/y ore And that is without accounting for increase of electric power use in underdeveloped area's...
