people want status in large part to obtain access to either economic resources or people with strong social skills. in the Future once both of these things are post-scarcity i think that people will be surprised at how little of life is status games
A dog was tied to a pole and abandoned in a middle of a hurricane. Florida is now passing a law to make this specific act a crime. But that misses the point.
The problem here is not the specific act, but the failure to recognize that other sentient beings have rights.
