DC Councilmember Trayon White Sr. arrested for accepting $156,000 in bribes to influence city contracts. Accused of using his position to push for contract renewals worth millions, White faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
This was a pretty notorious case in Pennsylvania when it first came to light.

I think they must have confused "nonviolent" crimes with victimless crimes. But those are not the same!

The only two options were not commute any nonviolent offenders or commute all of them, including the cash for kids judge. There was no in between. No possible way to do vetting or use desecration or personal agency of any kind. All or nothing. You nailed it.

the people who are offered clemency is the important part of criminal justice advocacy, not just clemency for the sake of clemency.

Imagine the reaction giving clemency to everyone on death row would get if he listened to the people pushing for it. Say what you will about about "kids for cash" guy, he wasn't a mass murderer like Dylan Roof.
Do you honestly believe that if the Biden admin had done basic due diligence and told the ACLU that he was going to take the Kids for Cash judges off the commutation list, that the ACLU would have pushed back on that?
I think your problem here is much more with basic administrative incompetence and less with the Groups here, honestly.
