Endorsed! Xylitol nasal spray is a good way to clear your nose and to keep inflammation down. And it works in trials, not just anecdotes! Incidentally, I've been experimenting with helping subscribers quit Afrin. I can put that review higher up on my docket if people want.

I heard @BretWeinstein say that hand washing was a great hygienic push of the 19th century, while daily saline nasal rinses are a 21st-century insight. I tried it. Astonished at the difference, super clear breathing all day. Not a paid endorsement but I'm wild for this product.

What differences have you noticed compared to non-xylitol based nasal sprays? I’ve just started doing them every night and it’s made a world of difference for my sleep.
It beats saline sprays, but it performs worse than corticosteroid sprays like fluticasone propionate or triamcinolone acetonide sprays. It's great as a non-addictive, extremely low-risk daily-driver, and mixed with capsaicin or using the rescue version, it has more punch.
very cool that you're on this topic. i wonder what you find on your metanalysis of budesonide (mixed with saline rinse) or azelastine
Given the published literature, I assumed budesonide sprays would be better than fluticasone, but that didn't show up in my comparison, doctor reports, or reddit comments.
The implied effect size in your link is wildly unrealistic and suggests that even the small trials done with xylitol nasal sprays should've elicited multiple heart attacks. Yet they've shown all of 0. Try to stick to good evidence.
Interesting. Also read somewhere that it may be helpful to those prone to cavities not sure how that works via nose spray but alas
If you're getting nose bleeds from saline, I would not recommend a xylitol spray. I wouldn't recommend any spray for you. I'd recommend going to an ENT, because it sounds like you have an issue that precludes OTC spray usage.
i use it but as a solution for neti pots i can say it's a lot more comfortable than just straight saline (something i did as a kid)
Nasal spray is terribly addicting for your nose and leaves your nose drier than ever This is terrible advice. I say this as someone who loves nasal spray
My husband has had nasal issues for over 10 years. He tried everything here in the US and in Germany, nothing worked. The poor guy always carried tissues with him. A year ago I read about Xlear and bought it for him. A month after using it, he no longer needed tissues. All his
my experience with anti allergy meds. My symptoms are typically nil, with an occasional EXTREMELY strong attack that knocks me out for a day Afrin, no effect All pills except diphenydramine and Xyzal, no effect Flonase, maybe some effect, but very limited for immediate relief
Just use both as needed. Quitting afrin is a simple 3-4 day thing where you have a rebound stuffy nose until it equalizes. Can restart it when in a pinch. The Xlear is very solid for stopping bacterial sinus stuff
i’ve been daily Afrin/Zicam nasal spray user, i don’t care what it destroys or what tolerance i build, it’s the only thing that worked. i’m going to try this next, ty
Afrin rebound congestion is horrendous. I used it for a week before and had to taper off by diluting w/distilled water
is this different from afrin? Cus as an allergy sufferer I tried Afrin and it had no effect at all.
I used saline spray while I was sick a month ago and it worked like a charm. I only had runny nose for a few days and it was like a 4/10 instead of a 8/10 in terms of severity.
