Easy. A domestic timber industry provides sustenance for lumberjacks, and lumberjacks are an important source population for military recruitment. God knows we aren't getting soldiers from the Dalton School.

21st century national security challenges require us to take the Spruce Goose out of mothballs and make a fleet of them so we can protect our southern border with New Mexico. Thus we need to protect our beautiful timber industry ensuring we have the soft wood to build them.
