The NYT mentions this but doesn’t really dwell on it. Seems like it should be a bigger part of the story. Indeed, there is a much larger story being ignored: Trump generally seems to have very little idea of what’s going on in his admin.

It’s pretty clear Trump is not in charge anymore because he was not in on the chat….. is that because he’s mentally unfit to continue? ….. so who exactly is in charge now? Has someone checked on Trump?….. seems to be confused a lot lately about the law, what he’s signed, if he used the auto pen etc
And all that, at a time when Bondi is trying to claim that "the Court lacks competence" to address national security concerns.

What really strikes me is that Trump is entirely disengaged here. Isn't he supposed to be Commander in Chief? But no, he has outsourced everything except sitting behind the Resolute Desk and waving sharpies in the air to the least accomplished, most criminal, and most incompetent crew of sadists.
He was very busy critiquing and whining on truth social about a portrait of himself that was hung in Colorado 6 years ago. And also insulting the artist.

Not going to lie, I just take it for granted that this admin is not a well oiled machine. They have a boss with not only a small attention span but an enormous need for attention so his priorities are not tending to the small stuff.
Can you imagine anybody explaining any policy or plan minutiae to Trump knowing how he loathes talking for long about anything that doesn't come back as fast as possible to talking about how it makes him look great.
