Speaking of the great american state fair on the national mall, specifically, most of you will never visit it. And it's easy to write off criticisms as a bunch of woke complaining by wokies. But it's poorly done, cheaply done, unimaginatively done, and simply far beneath what a $35 trillion, technologically advanced economy should be able to produce with even a bit of competent leadership. The more I think about it, the more furious I get.

All Trump had to do to preside over a fun, non-partisan 250th birthday party for the country was literally nothing but he screwed that up too. slowboring.com/p/nobody-likes

I kept thinking about that same thing as I walked through yesterday, having attended many fairs with my 7 kids. A few face painting spots only gets you so far.

Innovation is powered by invention. But ideas need protecting and inventors need rewarding. To achieve this balance, Huawei has consistently invested over 20% of its annual revenue in R&D for the past 5 years, and licensed its patents to 48 Fortune 500 companies.
A US focused version of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival with musical entertainment curated by the museum would have packed the Mall. Instead, we have a festival that wasnโ€™t willing to pay for anything beyond a package of C-list musical acts as the showcase artists
How is it "woke" to point out that Trump does illegal things all the time? And enriches himself in the process at the cost of the American taxpayer. Fiscal responsibility? Ethics? woke, woke Actually, it's not easy to dismiss that criticism, unless it's just a reflexive trait.
WOW. after years of following you I think of you as a very measured person, and I believe you are. This is vehement language for you and speaks volumes. (Let's not get into how the fireworks are now inaccessible for young families. Sigh.)
Robert Moses lost his remaining public support after the disaster of NY's 1964 World Fair. This looks to be even more of a boondoggle.
Friends and I we're talking about how everyone was so excited about the bicentennial.. I was only a little kid but it was a lot different they were parades in every single town and people dressed up and they were events in the schools no one's excited this year.. everyone knows
People are enjoying it. It's too bad America 250, with their years head start, failed to step up to plate in a way the moment demanded (their events are still taking place) so Trump added events in a reduced timeline that the left proceeded to undermine, attempt to sabotage,
And unnecessary because there was a functioning group organizing celebrations across the country. But because it wasn't under Trump's personal control, funding was stripped and given to his group instead. Just a vanity waste of money.
I was 12 in 1976. I remember a fun, educational celebration of the countryโ€™s 200 birthday. There was no partisanship, it was inclusive for everyone, and a good time was had by all. Now, Americans will have to do their own 250th, in small and large towns, but itโ€™s what we do best.
your critiques are valid. the 'he politicized it' whining is laughable.... BOTH parties would have 'politicized' it... folks took me to the freedom train in '76, still remember that feckless politicians on both sides and a society wallowing in comfort over civic duty ruining US
I see it as fitting of America. Our federal government is the worst part of us. Amazing celebrations are happening other places
holding any event out of doors in 90+ degree heat and humidity is a dumbass move, any way you look at it.
I went yesterday with some extended family and agree - just poorly done and doesn't capture the best of last 250 years or the potential of the next 250. Also, the registration system for tickets is really just a campaign list building system: campaignnucleus.com. So the whole
