What you described is called torture, not interrogation. It’s illegal under the Geneva convention to treat prisoners of war this way.
Trump needs to be brought to The Hague and tried as a war criminal.
That’s a funny way of saying that our entire Governing Body needs to be hung, but you’re gettin’ the spirit. All the career Dems and Reps are allowing this to happen so they gotta go, too.
Tortured. This man was tortured.
yes. and he’s surely not the first one.
Sadly true. If a yt presenting man is treated this way, it's almost definitely worse for POC, ESL or people without resources and family to intervene.
I guess we hear of it now because these are europeans whose families immediately scream bloody murder, alarm the consulates and hire lawyers.
Immigration officers and ICE agents need to be doxed.
I do not see this regime coming to an end peacefully and that is scary to say.
Like seriously. This man was detained illegally and tortured. At what point do we say enough is enough? If this doesn't push us over the edge what will? The answer: Nothing
Why aren't you saying that he was tortured in the headline. Because the story says that he was tortured.
Really some chicken shit reporting here.
the story itself is reported well enough but some copy editor put a bad headline on it that doesn't make it clear why 'interrogated' is in scare quotes
At least the 3rd German snatched up by ICE and tortured in the last few weeks. Considering Musk’s involvement with Germany’s fascist AfD party, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch (with this administration) to wonder if these people are known opposition to that group.
Yeah. Might sound obvious but it feels like they're purposely trying to get other countries riled up solely to start a war, tbh. And you're right in that they're likely detaining Europeans just to give the AfD a window of opportunity. I hate this timeline 🫠
Appropriate headline is “green card holder tortured”.
I find this story so chilling, and it's helped me identify the specific thing that has been upsetting me in all of the news cycle lately, which is the realization that there really exist plenty of people like the ICE officers described here - willing to inflict this type of treatment readily.
What I'd like to see added to stories like these isn't about the headline, specifically, but information about who, specifically, the authorities involved are and how other ordinary citizens can call for accountability. Ultimately, what can we do to stop this?
Don't vote for Republicans, there's a huge one
That step hasn’t worked so far.
Who are the other people on a mat without food and water at Boston Logan?
"being stripped naked, put in a cold shower by two officials, and being put back onto a chair." is that regular procedure in ice detention and we only hear about it now because they’re detaining europeans?
If you are from outside of America it is unsafe to travel to the USA, it would seem.
Worth mentioning that, as of 2023, 90+% ICE facilities were privately run with little to no oversight (& where there was oversight, they didn’t close down facilities where abuses were found). Donald W Wyatt is publicly owned but privately run.
- it's not a small thing that you sanitized your headline. It's dereliction of duty. Without the press boldly reporting the facts, tyranny will triumph. Look at history. The importance of your role cannot be overstated
This is a reminder that the only way to prevent "just following orders" syndrome is to name, shame, and directly prosecute such individuals (even if charges are dismissed). Low-level functionaries of an authoritarian state need to be made afraid and ashamed of following orders.
When the masses wake up to the idea of revolution, then we may have a chance at stopping this. Until then, prepare for it to get even worse. (Yes it can still get FAR worse)
How much you want to bet EVERY green card has been flagged?
Why was he tortured? Is he an opponent of AfD? Is that where we are at?
Based on your reporting, he was tortured. Focus on that.
The details of the story reveal something much more sinister than interrogation and detainment… words such as torture, physical abuse should have been used in the title…
It really is appalling and disgusting the way they are treating people. As a Canadian, I never want to step foot in the U.S. again. My neighbour told me of an incident of an artist who was being held for no reason & would have to wait for immigration for days so he flew back to Toronto.
I don’t blame you. Many of us are just as disgusted and horrified and dismayed at all the cowards rolling over
Meanwhile the Tate brothers are convicted rapists and sex traffickers and they have are welcomed back to US by Trump.
On a chartered personal jet!
Check into the 2 Canadian women being detained. It's happening everywhere.
Another German detained, this time in New Hampshire. "Senior described Schmidt being “violently interrogated” at Logan Airport for hours, and being stripped naked, put in a cold shower by two officials, and being put back onto a chair."
This is a hell of a thing to leave out of your headline.
Screenshot from the article:

"It was just said that his green card was flagged," said Astrid Senior, his mother. She said she didn't hear from her son directly until Tuesday, when she learned he'd been hospitalized.
Senior described Schmidt being "violently interrogated" at Logan Airport for hours, and being stripped naked, put in a cold shower by two officials, and being put back onto a chair.
She said Schmidt told her immigration agents pressured him to give up his green card. She said he was placed on a mat in a bright room with other people at the airport, with little food or water, suffered sleep deprivation, and was denied access to his medication for anxiety and depression.
"He hardly got anything to drink. And then he wasn't feeling very well and he collapsed." said

Interrogated and tortured: deprived of food, water, meds, clothing. Let's lead with that.
seems more than a little concerning that someone is being tortured at Logan Airport?!
JFC..... We asked our legal experts - "can a Green Card holder be tortured"?
Betting if he had one of those 5 million dollar GOLD cards he could commit any crimes he desired, and not have to worry.
Starting to sound like traveling into the US just isn't very safe. For anyone.
