That's a nice graph from before the current administration, the IMF would beg to differ on that ranking
Well first of all, that's GDP rather than consumption. And second of all, those tiny little countries have a shit-ton of immigration!
We need to be fully prepared to fight back and ELECT DONALD J. TRUMP ON NOVEMBER 5TH to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Take A Stand Today.
Seems like migration has been good for Springfield, OH too. Their GDP and tax proceeds seem to be up, while their crime and public safety incidents haven't moved.

GDP of Springfield, Ohio appears to be going sharply up since the Haitain migration started in 2020. (I can only find data up to 2022 though)
Google reports the total population didn't change that much from 2020-2022:
- Population in 2020: 58,801
- Population in 2021:
Show moreWe are still the best country in the world, but blue collar Americans have been struggling. Wealth inequality is high, we need to shift it back into a football shape.
So not a lot of poor people? And middle class with issue
Now do gdp per person
Now do healthcare
No do xxx
How is your debt going
Great so no billionare tax needed
Show moreWe used to think that US had an advantage due to natural resources (oceans, grain, coal,....) Now it's entrepreneurs (Mag7++ - where would we be without them?) It could be Dem or Rep policies. It also could be the Constitution, which keeps both in check. Or the enlightenment.
Consumption with borrowed dollars.
It’s all debt.
Why? We’re disincentivized to save money, because…
A) our dollar is constantly debased
B) that’s it. It’s just A).
It looks like that chart is displaying how much we spend, not how much we spend compared to what we make.

Median wealth per capita is the best measure of individual prosperity. The US comes out at 15. This chart you’re disingenuously showing as if it proves your point is CONSUMPTION per capita which leads us directly to the category America actually is close to the top of the list

There’s a difference between legal and illegal immigration. Tons of legal Indian and Asian immigrants here for example working hard to show technical skill or get science and engineering degrees. Not the same as illegals in San Diego being mules for cartels, driving without

We are nowhere near where we should be by this point in time
Breakthrough innovation has collapsed to a crawl since the early 2000s
Yes but we still need strong border enforcement. Ohio’s cats shouldn’t have to be fighting for their lives right now. They need President Trump back in the White House.

From 2020 you fucking retard.
Go talk to some working class people about how they're going.

consumption is a low bar. would trade spots with the netherlands / germany for their cities
I've dedicated my life to service...and it's the reason that President Trump has thrown his support behind me. I'm running against a "radical left lunatic" in the biggest race on the map. Will you help me pull off a win?
This graph is garbage. An average over such a large aggregate doesn't tell a great story
And the second one is a country with 47% of foreign nationals.
Trump has showed the entire world how strong he is.

That shows the UK richer than Ireland. I thought you considered Ireland one of those colonies that got richer than the empire?
Most prosperous country on earth, but still has kids going without food everyday
Cult losers aren’t allowed to believe that, because that would kick down their US-is-a-failed-country rhetoric.
It's crazy how he is trying to rewrite our understanding of America's strengths. American immigration is a huge reason we are so prosperous
What he said was “flooding the country with low wage immigrants is not the path to prosperity”.
The key words here are “low wage”, I.e. “NOT high skill workers”.
As harsh as it sounds, JD Vance is correct on this point.
America is a country with very high rate of automation,
Wasn't that the year everyone redid their kitchens because they were getting paid not to work? Do we have 2023 data?
It does look very third world with its potholes and utility poles (wooden!). Looks matter
That list is missing several countries, but US is still one of the richest countries pr. cap.
Looks like somebody need to remind Vance that both he and Trump are descendants of immigrants.
Trump has showed the entire world how strong he is.

I'd be fascinated to see that adjusted for the median member of each country, to remove the distortion from the ultra rich
Yeah, European nations make a much better example if you’re looking for evidence that unrestricted immigration doesn’t guarantee economic prosperity all on it’s own. It really has to be a part of a relatively liberal market economy.
Not sure there has been a R ticket more clueless about freshman level macro economics

Oh boy... This is only Europe and the US. See "Eurostat" at the bottom? And it is weighted based on the relative value of the currency.
We are 35 Trillion dollars in debt our unfunded liabilities are over 270 trillion Which is more then ALL the assets in the USA
That chart is EU & UK
Switzerland, Norway not there (two richest European countries)
Singapore, Qatar, UAE (Dubai) not there
Australia not there or even Canada
Dumb chart that doesn't match tweet
Which makes the moral obscenity of all the preventable suffering we allow that much worse.
Net Consumption does not Equal GDP. Much of Europe as well as Japan, south Korea and Singapore are more prosperous than us by those metrics. Our own GDP is decline in relative numbers even though i still grows(i think) in absolute numbers.
Prosperity isn’t measured by consumption or at least not by that metric alone.
The consumption rate is also not well distributed, at least that’s what I hear from the Left about income & wealth hoarding.
I can't believe this idiot got into the Ivies.
Him and Trump have totally smashed their reputation in my eyes
This is exactly why Tariffs work! And would work so well if they were increased!! Everybody wants to sell their lemonade in our yard!!
JD is like an AI version of Trump, with an Ivy League vocabulary but just as dumb.

You can tell just how thoroughly russified the Republican Party is by their unabashed hatred for the United States.
an American sick with cancer technically contributes more to this stat than a working happy American with a family
Migration isn't only about "Foreigners coming here".
It's about us going there - accessing housing & heathcare in cheaper nations, studying overseas, retiring in the sun, touring & holidaying wherever we like!
My new book takes up this theme:
Note the date 2020. Let’s see…who was in the White House then? Oh right………..after almost four years. Let’s see one of these for the present day after almost four years of Biden,,
I mean, this whole thing is (of course) very silly, but you ARE kind of making his point (or at least helping to support it), since your data is from 2020 and he's trying(?) to to make a point about AFTER 2020.
This is only true if you assume no waste and the same distribution of inequality.
That graph measures consumption.
The index most commonly used for prosperity is the Legatum Prosperity Index, and on that for 2023 the US isn’t in the top ten. It’s not even in the top 20. It’s #22.
So maybe JD knows more than you give him credit for
