Jimmy Kimmel seems like an idiot with BlueSky brain, but let's not forget that Fox News lied so egregiously about how the election was stolen that they had to pay nearly a billion dollars over it... and the Biden admin never threatened Fox with removing their broadcast license.

There is a limited amount of radio frequency spectrum to be used for broadcasting radio, TV, cell phone service, Bluetooth, satellite TV, Starlink, etc., and that is regulated in the United States by the FCC. Jimmy Kimmel aired on TV stations who license spectrum from the FCC.
I feel like I’m going crazy, and you’re one of my most even keel follows. Is what he said really that bad? Like the clip I saw was making fun of Trump, didn’t really even mention Kirk. Idk maybe the week of horrors of social media has desensitized me.
I'm on vacation so not following things closely, but what I gather is that Kimmel is claiming the shooter was right wing, which seems very likely to be wrong at this point.
Please stop accepting the narrative that anything Kimmel said here was even marginally offensive or ill-advised. This is what gives them cover. You've already lost the "even bad speech should be allowed" argument, don't let them unilaterally decree what bad speech even is.
All of that stemmed from cable news, not the Fox network that has a broadcasting license. Cable news doesn't operate with a broadcasting license, so your point doesn't make sense. How could they be threatened with losing a broadcasting license that they don't have?
1) There’s no such thing as a national broadcast license. They would have to revoke licenses from individual affiliates. 2) Fox News is a cable network, and not regulated by the FCC
Fox is on cable, it's not on an FCC licensed broadcast network. The standards are quite different for each — Kimmel probably wouldn't have had this issue if he made those comments on cable. That said, Fox canned Tucker due to pressure, so it's not only the FCC who have
As a cable channel, Fox News does not have a broadcast license that could be revoked by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The distinction between broadcast television and cable television is critical to understanding the FCC's regulatory authority. Broadcast vs. cable
Who could forget? You're one of dozens mouthing the same story as if nobody knows. Try some original thought.
Fox is a cable network and not subject to FCC licensing. FCC standards apply only to broadcast TV you receive with an antenna. Has to be politically neutral. Example: Equal time rule. Why you don't see political rallies on broadcast but do on streaming or cable.
They have done everything they can to silence conservative voices for decades. Democrats have never been champions of free speech.
Fox news does not have a broadcast license. It is cable news and is not an over the air broadcast and is not subject to the same regulation.
Whether you like Fox News or not, Fox News Channel is on a cable medium and NOT on the public broadcast medium like ABC. ABC needs a broadcasting license.
Trump had nothing to do with Kimmel getting fired. The people got fed up with his constant bashing of conservatives. We called, we emailed; they felt some heat. Secondly, his ratings were in the gutter. Third, the broadcasters had had enough of him. It’s very simple.
Fox News doesn't have a broadcast license. They are cable. Kimmel is on broadcast, which requires a licensing to use government owned airwaves. Oh, and Kimmel is gone because: 1. 1/4 of ABC's affiliates (the local stations that have to pay a license fee to the government) told
“Lied so egregiously about how the election was stolen that they had to pay nearly a billion dollars over it…” This is not what happened and anyone who says it is, is asking for your good faith while admitting they’re not honest brokers
Even if your claims about Fox were true, there is no equivalence here. FOX is cable news. ABC is public airwaves with FCC rules and contracts. One of those rules is that you can’t knowing lie about stuff if you know it’s a lie. It was a lie, he knew it… end of story
