I was worried that the UCSD math preparation report would *not* be a wakeup call, but it looks like there is coalescing agreement among UC STEM faculty that SAT should be reinstated.

Prof. Vishik, what can average citizens to do lobby the CA state government to bring back the SATs?
I'm not sure, beyond the nuclear options en masse: major employers don't recruit at UC until they reinstate and/or parents (who can pay full tuition) send their kids to other states with SAT requirement
It’s always funny to see people advocate for a test where people get questions right purely by guessing.
Many of us are not aware that college board eliminated the guessing penalty 10 years ago
Great news. But who will the administration listen to, the STEM faculty who want to teach, or the people who want to pursue DEI at all costs?
Six years and counting the UC system screwed over California STEM students, many of who ended up having to go out of state for good education.
A 227 page document to review standardized testing is the most UC thing I've seen.
They literally do this because they choose to set aside admission slots for people that wouldn't otherwise qualify to fulfill their mission of educating all Californians.
It's not like they don't know what they're doing, they've been forward about this from day 1. Come on.
Ha ha! I remember when serious econometricians showed it was the best predictor of academic achievement and graduation. Then, woke administrators declared, after massive grade inflation, that it predicted nothing. Of course it did. And there is only so much grades can be inflated
Faculty wanted to keep it last time but were overruled. There is no prospect of UCOP going back to SAT
how will they still admit 'enough' Blacks and Latino?
and avoid 'too many' Asians?
Save your marriage with journal entries. Families that reconcile together stay together.
But just to be safe, throw in a few Jane Austen movies.
