It is kind of odd that Musk got mad at a bill for spending too much money and then demanding they take out: — A PBM reform that reduces government spending — A bill curbing investments in China that had no fiscal cost — Some money for children’s cancer research

Given the CBO scored the PBM reform as saving $3 billion, it’s actually very plausible that the new Musk version of the budget bill is actually MORE expensive than it was before he intervened

He’s very rich and could obviously get by fine even if his extensive business interests in China collapsed, so no I’m not saying the Chinese “own” Musk he just of his own volition is consistently friendly to the CCP in a way that’s at odds with Trump’s stated views.

It’s all about how long it is - that’s it - and yea it’s a silly as it sounds but if it takes too many pages they will oppose it.
Who has been running the oval office these last couple years? We all know it hasn't been the diaper filler. Where are all the investigative journalists?
Why are more than 100 million Americans burdened by medical debt? One reason is because of aggressive tactics used by some large health systems, including nonprofit hospitals, to rake in higher profits at the expense of patients. Help us fight medical debt by taking our survey.
Call Chuck Schumer to get off his ass and pass the bill.

You know that $190M of funding for pediatric cancer research that Democrats have spent the last day on their high horse about with the CR? Turns out it passed the Republican led House as a stand-alone bill last March but went nowhere in Chuck Schumer's Senate.

If nothing else (and there was a lot more), sparing Congress from investigation and a $70k pay raise was more than enough reason for Porkzilla to die.
Nice try Matt. If those are all good things (they might be) - just pass them, like regular laws. Nothing stopping congress. They don't belong in a CR. Under normal circumstances you'd agree.
$$ money for child cancer research should have been its own bill. That stuff is intentionally put in an EOY omnibus bill to help ram the other pork through via camouflage and guilt. Make no mistake, these items have been stockpiled for months just to dump into the EOY CR bill.
Just stop

You literally can’t make this up. Democrats are blaming @elonmusk, Trump, & Republicans for k*lling the funding for kids cancer research. It was introduced as a stand alone bill and passed the Republican controlled House. It’s been held up since March in the Democrat controlled

Shhhh he would need to understand how government works to get any of that. Dude operates solely on vibes and whatever the strong dosage of whatever designer drugs he’s on tell him.

So Elmo's primary motivation isn't actually what he says? GASP! Next you're going to tell me we shouldn't believe everything he says like we're little children!
nope. just want a straight forward bill to fund the govt. none of that other stuff is an emergency. it can wait till reps have time to actually read it.

One of the key new provisions in the CR that Musk just killed would have restricted high tech investments in China such as, surprise surprise, his own plan for a China based data center to develop AI for Tesla cars.
Image
Those things do not belong in a CR. It is insane to continue this legislative dereliction of duty as a matter of course.
I think conspiracy-minded accusations are eh, but like I don’t know strange that he suddenly became fine with more spending when they removed the China restrictions
Maybe he’s owned by China in a way that isn’t financially based yet still leads to his obedience
I'm gonna give you credit that on some level, you know this process of dumping huge bills at the last minute and demanding everyone vote for them without getting the chance to understand them is corrupt and the emotional blackmail is abusive.
The first and third thing could have been in separate bills if the democrats hadn't attached them to all of their pork. Republicans were even pushing this.
Really? As if it all can't be voted on as a separate bill later on. 🙄 No more omnibus resolutions. There isn't a damned line item in the original resolution that can't be voted on after the break. They can do their job w/o a near median annual income $70,000 raise.
Congress can try to pass each of those items as a separate bill. What is the justification for shoving everything into one bill?

Just for shits and giggles, answer this for me: who do you think we are going to trust more when it comes to physical responsibility and financial solvency? The billionaire, or the bald cuck? Let me give you a hint, princess: it ain't you.
You are trying very hard to spin up a “Musk is owned by China” whisper based on almost no evidence. It was a 1,500 page bill. Saying one China reference is the reason Musk objected to the bill - as opposed to its size or spending - is borderline defamatory.
Get your facts straight Schumer is the one who blocked the money for Children Cancer Research Democrats again gaslighting forgetting we can fact check .
Image
Cancer research was pass in March Democrats are holding us hostage with it because they WILL NOT pass it as a stand alone bill. Ask yourself, "why not?"
Matt, all snark aside, I'm genuinely confused as to why the Dems voted against the trimmed-down bill. It would have kept Gov open and raised debt limit. Even WaPo story doesn't explain. Jeffries isn't clarifying. Can you explain?
How does it feel to be a useful idiot? This is exactly why these bills get larded up, so if you vote against it they can say you "voted against children's cancer research" It's ridiculous and it's finally coming to an end.
Odd? Ill tell you what’s odd. A 1,500 page bill to Continue spending that makes changes en mass. Maybe you are correct on these 3 item, and DOGE is wrong. So what? Are 3 errors on road B worse than staying the collision course we are on?
3 billion dollars of tax payer money for a new nfl stadium in dc and the 80k raise per year for members of congress are two of the many ridiculous expenditures
In other words, you left out all of the hundreds of billions in wasteful spending and a 40% increase to congress’ pay. Sit down, shut up and quit trying to manipulate for the corrupt. Have you even READ the 1500+ pages yet?!
