The same people saying the Marina project looks horrible will look at you in the eyes and with a straight face tell you this is a historic neighborhood that must be protected.

The thing about these houses is they have surprisingly big back yards which are typically nice.
Every time I'm in SF it is striking how bad a lot of the housing stock is.
TBC, the Victorians are great.
But much of the rest of it is horrible. Not sure what they think they are saving.

FYI, the Outer Sunset used to be vast, shifting sand dunes. And SF is an earthquake zone.

Much of SF is the worst place to live in the entire Bay Area, if not the entire country
the sane people will grant this. The mission, sunset, and along the main transit lines should be zoned up to 6-8 stories: do what you want, insta approval for the classic San Francisco vernaculars.

I think this neighborhood sucks and also that the Marina project is a horrible eye sore that’s discordant with the character of SF
IIRC a lot of that area is built on fill and soils that are prone to seismic liquefaction.
Doesn’t sound like a good spot for 10+ story buildings.
It’s like this everywhere.
In New Hampshire, we convert these to historic districts and the historic district committee gets and an extra vote - in addition to to the normal nimby letter writers.

This ugly ass type of neighborhood is everywhere in California. That could be Long Beach, San Diego, LA or SF. Upzone it all!
