Berkeley's tallest building was just approved. • 27 stories • 456 units • 14,400 square feet for retail • Parking for 36 cars & 304 bicycles Growing up in Berkeley, I NEVER thought anything like this would ever get built. I was wrong.

".....I NEVER thought anything like this would ever get built. I was wrong." Not wrong yet. Lots can happen to prevent it actually getting built, I imagine. I refuse to count my chickens until I'm occupying Apt. 5c.

We strive simply to make the best shingles in the most sustainable way. At Malarkey, we invented the cleaner, longer-lasting shingle technology known as polymer modified (rubberized) asphalt. We pioneered the use of upcycled rubber in shingles. We pioneered the use of upcycled

While I’m completely ignorant to the impact this building will have on the local economy and community (positive or negative), I gotta say; that’s a DOPE looking building.
It's been incredible to watch Berkeley transition to one of the most NIMBY cities in the country to one of the most YIMBY/Progressive. I am absolutely here for it. Looking forward to seeing Berkeley develop 🤩
Nice renderings. Don't skimp on the floor structure in the podium levels. The mep guys like to use scissor lifts
Now we just need 30 more of these and the incumbents who block everything will be pushed out.

Looks awesome! Hope the city fixes its design review process though so new buildings can have simple facades instead of a jumble of 3D shapes and different materials.
Aw hell yeah. Let's do this. I never thought I'd live to see the day when Berkeley had the most sensible government in the bay area.
And what will the air in the building be like? I learned the hard way that most (maybe even all) of the new apartment buildings in the bay area, including in Berkeley, pump artificial fragrance into the air as an “amenity”🤢🤮
It's about time. I don't want Berkeley to lose its charm and it's beautiful small buildings, but Lord knows housing is needed.
oh, that's actually going to block the view i like on my hikes near there - how can i provide public comment to prohibit? thanks
Parking for only 36 cars on a 456 unit building is fantastic, but is any of this gonna be affordable housing or just "market rate" (read: unaffordable to anyone making median income)
Retail is dead. 1 parking spot for every 13 units is going to put enormous parking pressure on the neighbors. Hope they build secure bicycle and mail rooms.
