I had seen data showing that the weight regain was not complete, but I'm surprised to see continued weight loss in such a large percentage of users.
It's critics of the drugs (among others) that will tell you that losing weight is about lifestyle change. For some, drugs help them make that change. Once they have the right habits.
Also, this is just one year. Five years, might tell a different story. These studies are always, always confounded. You can't look at the graph and really see the picture.
My personal experience with weight loss the traditional way is that it takes 2-3 years and then starts to come back. I won't be surprised if that's the case here for those that don't start gaining weight immediately. It might be that it's a drug you go off and on as warranted.
The "critics" of the drugs usually aren't even doctors that see these patients the most. Their opinions are irrelevant
Looking closer at this, I have to wonder if/how they know whether the patients truly stopped. I'd worry many patients "stopped"... using the name brand drug from a pharmacy, once they lost coverage by no longer being obese. And just switched to buying compounded versions OOP.
