Nice bit on differences in corporate culture within Japan’s auto industry: Nissan is run by sales folks who went to prestigious universities in Japan. Honda is run by engineers who rose up through R&D.

Now Honda is being pushed by the Japanese government to take over struggling Nissan to create the world’s third largest auto group. A big driver is the shift to EVs. Ironically it was Nissan that created the first mass-market EV in 2009: the Nissan Leaf.

Why does this person differentiate between corporate culture and "the way that they operate internally"? They're the exact same thing. Corporate culture literally means the way a company operates. What does this person think corporate culture means?

The worst part, is that there is zero synergy between the 2 brands. Similar cars, same markets, same prices, same customers. Zero gain.

'Tokyo grads gathered together just to create a vehicle as uninspiring as the Nissan Ariya in the age of Aito M9? C'mon man just let it disband.
May explain too why Honda is ahead of its Japanese rivals in EV while Nissan is kinda the laggard, even though they had some incipient EV technology to get ahead...
Crazy that the sales guys are the ones that don’t know how to build a business that makes any money. Engineer led firms tend to have the problems with GTM. Nissan is such a dog of a company.

pretty much all the arguing about careers and making a living is really due to cost of living which is due to this graph, and almost nothing else. The red area is housing that doesn't exist. It's what 2008 caused us not to build. Solve this and you solve everything.
