The new reality: Housing is popular. So many polls have said if you put housing on the ballot you will win (which NYC finally just did) Not even sworn in yet, but Mr. Mamdani is already assembling a housing supply coalition from the White House down to the local grassroots

Learning that Annemarie Gray (no relation) of Open New York, NYC's YIMBY group, has been appointed to Mayor-elect Mamdani's housing transition team. This is FANTASTIC news!

It took him until june to acknowledge that private investment β€œplays a role” in housing supply. He has not signaled that he’s willing to budge an inch on green, union, or price control requirements. Forgive me for not believing that this isn’t deBlasio style smoke and mirrors.
I've hedged and cautioned plenty, but I haven't met him in person yet. Meanwhile, the leaders who have actually met him behind closed doors say "he's going to surprise some conservative people, actually."

Annemarie Gray’s appointment proves Mamdani’s β€œhousing revolution” is just activist cosplay. Open New York’s YIMBY slogans mask the same old DSA land grabsβ€”pushing rezoning chaos while gutting real development. Eric Adams financed 29,000 affordable units in 2024 alone by cutting
Hey you're gonna have to clean up your act if you don't want a block. I won't have you baselessly slandering land use reform or ONY in my mentions
Key to moving this whole damn country forward is putting people that don’t seem to fit the narrative on your team. Good to see a YIMBY on the team.
Give credit where credit due, big dog knew it was housing all along, his only flaw was he was the incumbent that spent 4 years telling us realtor commissions and landlord algorithms raise housing prices. Now it's immigration and institutions as the pendulum swings.

Jon Favreau did a series of focus groups in the summer of '22-- Black voters in ATL, swing voters in LV, 20-somethings in LA,etc-- every group mentioned the cost of housing, nobody brought up student loans till Favreau prompted them I figured out then Dems missing that boat
Mikie Sherrill had some trouble getting people to care about housing. NJ has built more housing than NY, so maybe that's not so surprising?
The media could not be played.
