I'm starting to think mathematics were not beautiful because it "describes the beauty of nature" but rather because human mathematicians only went after beautiful but suboptimal descriptions lol x.com/quantian1/stat…

This is what you get when you contrive problems to fall in the gaps between known beautiful methods, or when the definitions you are using aren't quite right.
no we've just built the tower of babel and realized we actually know nothing about the inneffible mind of God
is right about God favoring the funniest result. He was like “let us make 90% of math really elegant and beautiful. But we’ll leave a tenth for the sickos, just so they’re not left out.
we were only looking for pretty solutions. Later we'll find out the "theory of everything" is a book long formula with thousands of different hard coded numbers

Im convinced that everyone that talks anout the square packing problem is a midwit that knows nothing about math. Why tf would you expect that problem to have some beautiful minimal arrangement??
You must not have studied applied math. Math applied to the real world is not always beautiful, bc it does not follow idealized conditions and you can only model and approximate things with some loss of precision. It has nothing to do with the “mind of god.”
