And it’s really a Central European blind spot. Southern Europe made peace with AC ages ago. Up here we’re still debating whether comfort is a sin.
You are citing some X threads like they would be serious studies based on data while they are just opinion pieces. There is no widespread rejection of AC because of environmental reasons, those folks you are citing making this up (for whatever reason -- indeed it fits to similar
Maybe this is actually based because it’s going to save them from pension insolvency??

In 2008, my PhD advisor told me that in 100 years, all human problems would be solved, economic models wouldn't work anymore, and growth would be beside the point.
I'm still very skeptical, but that looks less crazy in 2026 than it looked in 2008.
I think:
* The dismantling of USAID was done for evil purposes, and resulted in untold suffering
* We can't let ourselves view "lack of aid" as murder. If so, we're "murdering" millions every day we don't give 90% of our GDP in aid.
Who is actually crusading against it? It's just a financial barrier for people I know as our energy rates are extortionate because our governments are insane.
Also, Spain, Greece, Portugal etc almost always have AC everywhere in my experience
There is no such "crusade".
Those who had heat waves in the past, have AC.
Those who did not, partially do not have it YET.
I'm european and it is, in fact, insane. This debate proves that Euros are really not that smart and they're no position to criticize the US for guns, healthcare... this is beyond stupidity.
Surprised about #EU AC pushback in my travel groups when there are some of us who have a life-and-death situation w/out it. The argument has been about the environment, but I would imagine significant energy costs matter. Global warming is a thing. We must cope. #GlobalBusiness

You do know that Europe isn’t in any way opposed to aircon right? It’s just that it hasn’t made economic sense until recently because we didn’t have that many hot days where we needed it. We’ll be getting more of it as time goes on and the world gets hotter.
Their excuses and justifications are insane.

What "crusade"? I wish someone like could help you work through this. You're one of my favorite follows, albeit a bit obsessed with European temperatures (I write while sweltering over beef panang curry in an un-air-conditioned Prague restaurant -- yikes!).
