Good luck getting rid of those tariffs. It would blow up the sugar beet industry, screw with all the farm bill subsidies on corn and the market for it, etc. There's a whole pyramid of stacked sh** to address, you can't just pull out one turd.
The reason why American food companies use Corn Syrup instead of Sugar is because the Federal government distorts the market by subsidizing corn & imposing draconian tariffs on importing sugar cane. The way to fix this is by ending subsidies & tariffs not by imposing mandates
