Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) has deleted all three of his tweets from his personal account that mocked and fanned conspiracies about the assassination of Minnesota Democrat state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband.

“It was important to her that I take it down,” Lee told Matt. “We’re good friends. I took it down.” So, that's why U.S. senator Mike Lee deleted his post saying this after the Minnesota assassinations: "This is what happens When Marxists don’t get their way."
Other things Lee tweeted in response to the MN shootings and deleted today: “Nightmare on Waltz Street,” an apparent and misspelled reference to Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz. Marxism is a “deadly mental illness."
But Lee didn’t delete a handful of other inflammatory messages that either implicitly or explicitly reference the MN shooting. “Fact check: TRUE,” Lee posted Monday, in response to an Elon Musk tweet falsely claiming, “The far left is murderously violent.” Still up.
“Marxism kills,” Lee said in another Monday tweet, in response to someone falsely claiming “the left … kills a MN state rep and her husband and injures a Senator and his wife.” Still up.
On Saturday, the same day the MN Democratic lawmaker and her husband were assassinated at home, Lee had this to say in response to someone posting about the FBI reviewing the gunman’s cellphone records: “My guess: He’s not MAGA.” Still up.
I asked Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) about her convo w/ Lee last night, as she pulled him out of a GOP meeting to tell him how hurtful his posts were. Beyond the horror of the situation, Smith was also friends with Hortman. Lee was “sort of shocked” to be talking to her, she said.
“The point here is that there are consequences to the things that you do in the social media world, as a U.S. senator, and he has a big megaphone,” Smith told me. “He’s choosing to use it to spread misinformation and to hurt people.”
I asked Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) about Lee's inflammatory tweets and he flipped out. He angrily avoided answering the question 4, maybe 5 times. Instead, he attacked Democrats, the media and then tried to change the subject to talk about someone in North Carolina. 😂

Instead of deleting them, he should issue an apology to the family. Deleting them is cowardly bullshit.
𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Scott Galloway, multi-millionaire professor, gives dire warning about the decline of American capitalism, expanding wealth inequality and far-right CEOs. ★ NEW ARTICLE ⬇️
Well it’s about 3 days too f’n late. The whole world has the screenshots and his church should be ashamed. They said NOTHING about the victims or his pathetic take. ⭕️
Guess he decided to take the call for toning down violent, decisive rhetoric seriously. How are the Democrats doing on that front?
The scary part is what these people’s true agendas are. They always cover up the stuff we find out about to hide the real dirty laundry from coming out
He should resign in disgrace. He was literally joking about Walz staff, murdering political opposition and their families like FREDDY KRUEGER. He is literally fantasizing about their deaths meanwhile one of them leapt in front of their daughter to take the bullet from her.
Doesn't make them untrue. People are done with Woke, the fringe are the first to move.
A good man would never make those posts in the first place A wise man would release a public statement recognizing his actions and the impact they had A coward runs from questions, covers up their tracks, and tries to pretend like it never happened is a coward
I couldn't care any less what Mike Lee does, apology or not. He chose to debase himself to being a social media troll, and I've written him off a while ago as an unserious, very online clown. He can suit himself, as his actions reflect poorly on him.
Now, he needs to post an apology, reach out to the family members and to Gov. Tim Walz. Eat crow, Lee.
But its effect cannot be undone. Best could require us a public apology. Or at least a 7 day suspension from Twitter. But, neither happens in infowar active measures.
FINALLY! Glad everyone kept up the pressure. Now he must APOLOGIZE. Quite frankly he should be impeached for this! If Congress can't find their spine to remove him, he needs to be censured. No excuse or room for such behaviour or rhetoric in Congress, or any political office!!
But everyone has screen-shotted them so when he tries to deny them or say “it wasn’t me” somehow, only MAGA cult folks will believe him
The internet never forgets.

On Father’s Day, Mike Lee mocked a political shooting that left two children orphaned. State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband John were gunned down. Nov 7, 2028, Utah will replace him. Retweet if you’ve had enough. #UTpol #NoMoreLee #VoteThemOut

That's step one of a three-step program: 1. Take down the horrific tweets. 2. Apologize like he actually understands what he did wrong and is truly sorry for it. 3. Resign, because nothing else will be enough.
It's not an apology. But at least we know he hears what people think about him as a human.
Deleting texts is an admission of inappropriate conduct, but it is far from the apology decency requires him to proffer.
