Slowed down the form makes a lot more sense. You can see how it offsets the inertia from the legs swinging. Still looks like mad arm flailing in real-time though.
Humans run with a crossbody arm swing. You don't see the hands up high, but the elbows. It's just a natural consequence of the shoulder rock. Look at how much more the robots' shoulders rock, the hands follow as a counterbalance.

Possibly required due to its hips being so wide (some women run this way)? Also, it’s constantly tipping to the left or right - need a better way to maintain balance.
Crazy to think a ROBOT may have just made us humans rethink how to run. It looks ridiculous, of course but something about the swing left to right motion may need to be studied more.
Amazon execs thinking if these bots can hold packages while running and not dropping them.

There's a lady in my neighborhood that power walks like this due to what looks like a mobility injury she had at some point in her life. Whatever works!

Somebody in school many years back, used to run exactly like this. He was fairly short and could run very fast.
the arm-restricted gait isn't choreography — the robot invented it because arm swing was destroying its shoulder joints. that's reinforcement learning on a real actuator budget, not a stunt. embodied AI benchmarks are getting weird in the right way.
