Spending increases are lower under Democrats. Obama basically inherited $3.5 trillion in spending and kept it there for nearly 6 years. He spent less in 2014 than 2009, unheard of austerity.

So where did the myth about Republican ‘fiscal responsibility’ even come from? Also Job creation - the absolute majority of jobs were created under democratic presidents
Correct!

Both Bush's had weak job creation, and Trump had negative job creation, so the jobs score since 1989 is about: Democrats: +50 million GOP: +1 million (not a typo!) It's about 51-1 now. If you pretend the pandemic didn't happen and give '09 to Bush 43, it's about 46-6. 4/

How did Obama do it.... Year 1 take spending up to record levels 24.3% of GDP, and then it comes down each year as the boost fades away Same trick from Biden, just let the COVID spending fade away for 2 years, then pass IRA and spending shoots up again to 24%+ Control for

This is misleading! Spending may have been less than the previous year, but deficit spending was going up. Since Reagan every president added to the deficit!

Careful when just using debt changes. The better way to evaluate is: 💡How much did their policies change the deficit trajectory they inherited? Bush 43 inherited a $5T + surplus from Clinton and turned it into a $6T + debt increase (an $11T swing negative) from tax cuts, wars

No it was a Republican House in 2012 and 2013 - Following the 2010 elections, a newly Republican-controlled House of Representatives pushed aggressively for spending restraint and deficit reduction, scaling back federal outlays as a share of GDP from 24.1% in 2010–2011 down to
Incredibly misleading. Obama reductions due to sequestration. Biden budget drops due to massive one time covid stimulus not being repeated. Far too much temporary covid spending became new permanent baseline (e.g. medicare expansion), however, which is partially driving our
COVID had a large impact: the drops in FY2022 and FY2023 largely reflect the phase-out of temporary pandemic relief spending that had driven outlays to record highs in FY2020–FY2021, not a structural reduction in baseline federal spending.
Ofcourse. When you spend outrageously in the first 1-2 years of your own administration, it’s not hard to spend less. What a ridiculous and stupid comparison
The massive decrease in fiscal in 2022 is exactly why the stock market had a bear market btw. Drop the fiscal that much again and SP500 is -20% easy
Repub have ALWAYS been frauds as deficit warriors. They ONLY blow up that issue when Dems are in office bc they push policies to help regular ppl, not the fatcats Repubs associates with. They HATE benefits to regular ppl. Ppl of color might be included!
As Jane Austen wrote: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a Democrat President in possession of a large national debt, must be in want of a Republican House."
Because Democrats let Republicans run up debt through tax cuts and corporate subsidies then Democrats balance the budget off the least fortune of us and call it "going high when they go low" and "being the adults in the room". Obama is on the list twice and bankers did well.
