Yeah, the abstract says moderates on average do 0.6% better
Susan Collins will easily do more than 0.6% better than the generic R lol
“Moderates outperform” is such an obviously correct statement that trying to model the minds of people who disagree is genuinely kinda difficult for me.
But on this note. Why aren’t left leaning groups carpet bombing cheap media Maine tying Collins to every unpopular move to erase her positives? Hypothetically this is Dems best pick up opportunity.
Reading that abstract furthe validates my decision that leaving the poly sci graduate program at TN was the best decision I ever made.

As a laymen reading stuff like this that is very obviously wrong is very black pill coded for the political science field
It's just data... she has clearly gotten mileage out of the perception of moderation, but on average most others have not been so dramatically rewarded.
Maybe the trick is to express rhetorical "concerns?"
I don't think this paper is just about candidates, but national-level identified party ideology. One of the authors addressed your criticism!
