Fascinating. State voters overall oppose congestion pricing 27% to 47%, but people drive into the congestion zone support it — 66%-32% for those who drive every week and 51%-46% for those who drive a few times a month. The people who actually pay the toll support it the most!

Regular transit riders also support it by a narrow plurality, 47%-45%, so it seems like most of the opposition is among people who spend little to no time in the zone.
Did you know renewables now generate nearly half of EU electricity? Fossil fuel power has dropped 14% in 2024, with renewables hitting a record 49% share. What's driving this massive shift? #CleanEnergy #EUPower
What's your sample size bro? The last one of these that I saw was 280 people.
It's less "fascinating" when you see that a pro congestion tax group commissioned the poll. Were they going to reach any other conclusion?
I think if they were gonna fake if they wouldn’t still be at 27% statewide and 37% citywide.
You’re correct about their position but is there any evidence the data is manufactured? If they were gonna fake it wouldn’t they have faked majority support statewide or citywide?

How is this fascinating? Of course the people who are willing to pay the toll support it most.
Rich people will pay a few bucks extra to reduce traffic for themselves.
It’s like priority seating for first class, except everything was already paid for with tax dollars and it’s inherently public infrastructure.

Even more shocking - flyers who who use premium airport lounges support premium airport lounges more than average travelers.

The correct response is “Why would Trump have any say in whether New York charges congestion pricing?”
Weird. It’s almost like the people who can afford the tax, will pay it gladly to get the riffraff off the road, and make their commute faster.
The people who are willing to pay the $9 and benefit from the people who are unwilling to pay the $9 support it. Duh.

If you can afford it, less traffic is great.
What did you think would happen that makes this a "fascinating" result?
This feels very American electorate. People want the freedom IF…even though they’ll never use it. What’s the quote about poor Americans thinking of themselves as temporarily embarrassed millionaires?
Why do we care what people think if they aren’t affected by the policy? I don’t get polled on issues related to Rochester?
Related to this result from London's Ultra-Low Emissions Zone, which gets more support from Londoners:

Esp. interesting in light of last year's Conservative win in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election, when speculation was that the ULEZ cost Labour a winnable seat.

I’m for congestion pricing, but the ones who are for it and who pay the toll obviously are t affected much by the toll. They value the less time they spend commuting in more. I don’t think this polling is shocking
If by ‘fascinating’ you mean it validates the mountain of research predicting this or documenting it from case studies, I suppose so.
i drive from Nassau county to downtown Brooklyn my commute home is 30 minutes faster
Imagine a government where big government doesn't burden your future with excessive spending, taxes, and regulations. Here's how...
as it’s for those in and driving into the DCP zone who cares what folks from the far reaches of NY care
kinda like asking folks in Barrie ON what they think of bike lanes in Toronto
conservatives will latch onto anything that they feel will own the “left” look at the USA
Yes, I’m sure driving there is much nicer for the rich folks now that all the poor are kicked out.
I think the politics around cp are going to change a lot over the next few years. We basically kicked the poors off the road and onto the MTA who will burn through cp $ without any tangible upgrades to the system.
Really makes you wonder why we are even polling people north of I-84.
People in Central and Western NY should neither have an opinion or say about toll policies in the NYC metro area.
For example: I don’t give a shit what the toll is on the Peace Bridge.
False. While the moderately lighter traffic (currently) is welcome there is a massive cost. On top of the costs so called “wealthy” drivers have to cough up, businesses will be paying exorbitant rates for doing business in the city. These costs will be passed to everyone.

This is a push poll, it is built to be biased. Most voters in the state and city oppose CP.
wow what an astute observation it's almost like rich people who can regularly afford the toll like to pay for it to keep poor people off the streets
Should we make mass transit a more attractive alternative or just penalize people $9 for not using it and use fake polls to support it?
The poll that was sponsored by a billionaire lobbyist who pushed for congestion pricing, and 1,000 people who were intentionally selected and not at random. Sureeeee Karen. This poll is as believable as Ann Selzer’s in Iowa when she had Kamala winning.
These are all lies. Nobody wants it. Ask lower income and middle class in Manhattan what they think of congestion pricing. There are many neighborhoods like this all over lower Manhattan.
Sorry, really simple to explain. People who can afford congestion pricing love the lower traffic.

There is no "deal" to be had. Congestion pricing is state law, it's working and Trump has no right to interfere with it.
If Trump wants to trigger an unnecessary legal battle, defund public transit and increase traffic, that's on him. should not play along.

This is repugnant.

How many families will be divided to cancel Eric Adams’ corruption trial?
Hoping good people in City govt and SDNY find ways to push back.
