This is not one of those times. I would rather not jeopardize the rights of the entire trans/lgtbq community to protect 0.007% of trans people who compete in competitive sports.

The difference with comparing it to gay marriage, is that if gays couldn't marry that's not a huge difference in their life and so it's basically a luxury problem for adults. Enacting this means trans people, trans kids, basically can't do sports.

I’d love to see the polling from specifically women, too. I bet it’s a bigger gap. I played soccer in a boys league for a few seasons. We won a lot of games… until puberty hit them and we were just trying to make it out alive. We switched leagues after that.

Trump's border wall is the absolute easiest concession, and Dems should immediately make it. It's the most symbolic and anodyne part of Trump's immigration plans, and perhaps his entire agenda. If MAGA wants the wall to be their Statue of Liberty, let's just build it already.

This is a toxic issue that should not be addressed politically. Each sport should set its own rules. Most people cannot participate in competitive sports at a high level—trans people are a small fraction of that group. It is best to keep it within the sport’s governing agency.

i’ve been a trans fem athlete for 20 years now, it’s not exaggeration to say that i probably wouldn’t be alive without my sports teams. thankfully the women i play with are far more supportive than a political party that would throw me under the bus to catch a few votes.

I am a constituent of Moulton's. It might help him elsewhere in the country but hurt him in his own district. There are lot of things to criticize MA interscholastic athletics about but this had tended by an area Moulton has ever spoken about.

Girls play against guys in sports all the time in youth leagues, it’s fucking fine and toughens up the girls to be better in high school level. When I was 8 our second best basketball player was a girl and she ended up playing college softball

The poll doesn't give the actual best option though: men's sports should effectively go away and become "open" and women's sports should be limited to women who were born and live as women. Reason: a ftm person taking T would have an unfair advantage in women's sports

Terrible example bc he very specifically tried to moderate on that in light of the terrible polling? Repeatedly claimed he would not sign a national abortion ban. I don't believe him, but he very explicitly tried to make voters think he was against a national ban.

The wildest part of this argument is that Harris never brought up trans people once in her entire campaign. The only time she ever spoke about them was when asked directly, saying she would "follow the law", signaling no push back against states that outlaw gender affirming care.
