Ironic: LA Councilmember Padilla, who recently debated Senator Wiener over SB 79, is being recalled. Despite bragging about downsizing affordable housing in her district, she's being recalled for not being even more NIMBY. This is why local control doesn't work!

These petitions are easy to start but it's extremely hard to meet the requirements. Even KDL wasn't successfully recalled after the LA Fed tape scandal.

Makes me feel a little more empathy for Padilla, honestly. Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't.
Nithya faces all the same pressures as her and nonetheless manages to speak and act with total clarity on this issue.
I mean, this week has made pretty clear that Padilla isn't even half as talented as Raman.
Housing is an issue of statewide significance and cannot be left to local jurisdictions. City Councils will try to throw a bat in the spokes of every pro-housing bill the Legislature passes.
Her being recalled and replaced with a YIMBY instead would be pretty funny
