Stancil from the top rope. Everyone’s argument that the data is wrong is mostly based on anecdotes fed to them through the algorithms

If the data says people have jobs, they have money, they own houses at about the same rate as in the past, and crime is down, my conclusion is that a lot of people are lying or being melodramatic about how bad things are
Stancil isn’t wrong about screens, but he does make the reverse mistake of a kind, which is to assume the statistics are also capturing every aspect of people’s economic experience between screenecdotes and the numbers, I’ll take the numbers, but they aren’t omniscient either
I don't think he ever claimed statistics do that. By definition, statistics don't cover every aspect of what people are experiencing. But if people are claiming the economy is generally bad then there's no better possible way to assess that claim than statistics and data.

Total conservative victory, left-leaning people dismissing any and all data in favor of trusting their "lying eyes" (read: anecdotes on twitter carefully tailored to make me as angry as possible, with zero regard for factual accuracy/how well they represent the median American)
I keep saying this. We have intellectually developed to give tons of weight and trust to the people we communicate most with. Now though, most people don’t hear from a trusted wise uncle as much as they do from anonGroyper365 and their filters haven’t adjusted.
Yep. Like people killed on their personal economics said they were fine or better 75% of the time. In line with good times. Higher than 2012 Obama reelection and didn't get that high till about 2016.

If you'd like to know how well you're doing just ask FRED. He knows a lot more than you.
The data isn’t wrong. The conclusions you guys are reaching are most definitely wrong though. Adding this piece of data to your analysis may help a little

I think his perspective is caused from being way too online. If you talk to people IRL it seems no one feels they are doing well. I think that is better evidence then “Data”.
I mean we've had three years in a row of double digit increases in homelessness so maybe you guys should take your own advice and stop arguing with people telling you the economy is not good
Only way it's wrong is if reporting is wrong The people that look at the data and think it's good tho are unhinged. Americans just seem to embrace crime
Inequality is going through the roof, most nations have given up on fighting climate change.. To build tech that propagates low quality slop.
