I wonder if this "discous" of the tariff is related to the shares of Chinese espionage or is it the final degradation of Pax Americana?

So it’s way more complicated than this. It’s an additional tariff on top of what is already there. So for example lots of goods are already tariffed coming into the US from China. Something’s coming from China can see a 5-35% tariff. Canada also has defensive tariffs for their

China already has 25% (Steel, magnets, medical, minerals), 50% (semi conductors and solar panels) - 100% on EVs. Adding 10% to their tariff burden makes them higher than our allies tariffs.
Slapping more than 10% on China would completely screw the majority of Americans who can only afford to buy things made in China. It would screw a lot of businesses too that get their components from China which is probably the only reason it isn't any higher.
I don’t know if it says it all, but it says something. I can tell you, as a Canadian, I cannot wait for our election, so that our new Conservative PM can fight for us and end the near decade of Liberal madness that’s nearly destroyed us.
Would need to calculate what the total post-increase tariffs would be for each country to know whether China is getting a good deal. Some tariffs probably remain from his first term.
China is still paying the tariffs he initially implemented, and the tariffs Biden implemented. This is an extra 10% on top of what they already pay. Do your research
China already had tariffs on them. This was an additional 10%. You could have looked that up yourself.
It says China has more leverage on us than the others. That's all it says. It is definitely bad. We need to work harder to bring more manufacturing back home asap so we can get China's tariff up to 25%.
He slaps the least amount of tariff on the source of the fentanyl he is "supposedly" trying to control. If Canada and Mexico start supplying fentanyl will he reduce those tariffs to 10%?
Mexico has allowed cartels and human traffickers to destroy communities in our country while allowing tens of millions to travel through their country to invade the US
What are the tariffs on China currently? And what are the tariffs on Mexico, Canada? Also hasn’t the Mexican President, and Governor Trudeau been making things extremely difficult when it comes to the sovereignty of the United States? I know the leftist cartel owned president in

Canada’s been suckin’ on Uncle Sam’s teat like a lazy calf, actin’ like a friend but livin’ off our scraps. Time to bring that frozen welfare state into the fold!🔥🇺🇸
We have more trade with China. It’s actually a large cumulative tariffs burden on China then Mexico and Canada combined. But you’re a Democrat, so ai don’t expect you to understand math, ratios, and economics/finance in general.
Mexico allowed millions of migrants to flood the border. There has to be a political cost to that behavior.
Yea it says canada and mexico are only getting tariffed because they won’t help us with drug trafficking.
I believe the 10% is in addition to the section 301 (25%) China tariff so a total of 35%, excluding any anti dumping and regular tariff on each product
I mean, that isn't even a fraction of it. Have you seen the pictures out of Venezuela? They basically recognized Maduro as the heir of Bolivar in Miraflores... Like shaking hands with Putin, who is doing his best Washington impression, within the White House.
China is loving this. Read a quote from a South American the other day: “When the US shows up its to punish and lecture. When China shows up they want to trade”
She's right, USA has 10x the population, 10x consumption requirements , that means 90% of the USA market is closed to Canada. Size matters.
Canada and Mexico pose little military threat to US as a whole. China on the other hand requires a more strategic approach. Military might and technological advancement holds sway. China is a direct competitor in the AI and military tech race - Mexico and Canada? Sidebars.
China already has high tariffs that Trump slapped on them last time that Biden kept because they worked. He's slapping an additional 10%.
And then justifying it by lying about the number of fentanyl deaths is exactly what we should expect from Team Trump. They described it as tens of millions of deaths. It’s much, much, much smaller than that.
I think they’ll get their turn…. I think they are trying to make a deal on chips? Nvidia meeting yesterday. Also he may be waiting for BRICS to make a move? This is the biggest chess piece of them all. Things are happening fast. I’d expect clarity before March.
The higher tariffs for China are coming later. During Howard Lutnick's confirmation hearing, he talked about how the tariffs on China were going to take more time because they were going to use another part of US law, and the law requires some studies to be done. Maybe April.
The tariffs on Chinese goods were initially set at around 25% during Trump's first term and were further enhanced by the Biden administration. An additional 10% was proposed by Trump, bringing the average tariff rate on Chinese goods to a range of 30-40%.
